I"ve been out hunting for several days now, trying to spec up to bounty hunter. I have one more block in Marksman(overcharged shot) but I am slogging my way to exploration III. Is there any other way to get EXP other than killing and harversting animals to add a little variety?

Harvesting is your only option. If you get in a good group that takes down animals fast you can really rack in the scout xp.

turn on /maskscent

Turn on maskscent and keep it turned on - it clocks up dead quick, then...

join a high level piket hunting group, and just harvest the piket carpet mess as quickly as you can from each lair - you will get the xp you need in 30mins !
