What is rifleman suppling that rocks so hard? The damage specials don't appear to being doing that much more than MBH ones...

Rifles do the most damage and allow for 65m (80m with cyber arms) kiting.

I get higher DPS and lower SAC with pistols... pre-CU damage mitigation actually meant that min damage was most important than DPS... Is that still the same?

Now defense dictates damage mitigation, and if you see a jedi with aura or a tka with cob then you definatley want to switch to a weapon with a high minimum damage.
How do one tell if your PvE target has aura or CoB up?

I really enjoyed MBH/MRifles. You can mix and match other skills but the CM 4xxx, or Master Marksman, or Even throwing in some carbs was nice.
MBH/Mrifles is a very nice damage dealer template for PvE
My template is slightly different (geared for PVE): MBH, MRM, Master Marksman and Medic 0010
The advantage of the rifles and the marksman are primarily in the great innate speed (135) and the higher accuracy. You deal a lot of damage, and you do it real fast...especially with a doc buff or speed pups. Also, rifles gives you headshot, which is another high damage attack you can alter into to your attack combos for better overall damage. Plus, your ranged defenses will be higher.
I have heard that CM states do not work well against NPC marks. Assuming this is at least partially true, the greatest thing to get from CM is the healing. I submit though, that you consider trying the Medic 0010 first...get yourself some Citrus snowcake (or some other HE enhancing food), an HE shirtand then buy yourself a little R3 healing droid. I cannot emphasize how much I love my little droid. He will give you and extra 300 or so on your bacta shot, and you can make him attack the mark at the same time. On average, that is a 70 dps dot, and that is not bad at all. So, even with only Medic 0010, my heals are up around 1400. Instead of investing all those points in CM skills, I have boosted my speed and accuracy instead.
