Well the time has come for me to leave on my mission for two years, and won't have access to internet for that period of time.
I just want to start off with: I have been posting on these forums since 2002, and have seen this game come a loooong way. I remember when it was planned that everyone would be rebel except Npcs.
I was stupified when i got my beta invite in february of 2003, and thougt this game was awesome. It had potential, it had content, and it had great graphics
I remember when the first Jedi came out, and the devs announced it. I was excited- maybe I'd get to die to a Jedi lol.
Christmas came and we all got our 2 holos. Still great game- last 2 publishes pushed out mounts and player cities. AWESOME work devs!
Then, vehicles came out- even awesomer
3-5 great publishes came out in a row. I was pumped. I remembergoing to fight bastion (a giant Imp city on bria which had houses for walls around the base) with 100-150 players. We all got in our 20 man groups and met up at a waypoint. We rushed the entrance and got sluaghtered lol. It was a blast though..
Then I saw my first Jedi- I thought it was so awesome i took like 20 screenies. He was stanind at c-net star port and had 50 people surrounding him asking him questions- first jedi dissapointment.
later, Jedi were at all the starports- more dissappointments.
Then perma-death is reduced so that you now keep your items and houses.
Then, they got revamped, and jedi now were unlocked via a 'quest-based' system. (where are the quests lol)
Then perma-death changed so that you can die once every month or so and not worry.
Then perma-death removed entirely, replaced with skill loss.
Then 30% of the populaiton was a Jedi. I ground out a Jedi with help on another server- very tedious.
Skill loss replaced with Xp loss.
Jedi now everywhere, and never get set back more than a couple of hours.
Jedi become arrogant and pompous.
BH missions made more difficult with kashyyyk.
Droids no longer track on kashyyyk
now anonymous bounties.
My point is, this game was fun when there were no jedi- the game was balanced to a certain extent, and no one complained about uber templates, besides the CM.
Everyone treated equally despite gameplay hours.
Now, the game is turned into a Non Jedi vs Jedi battle. GCW is now mostly dead. Whats left of it remains purely with Jedi. No longer see faction bases or faction pride.
Player events died off since everyone was grinding out Jedi then pvping with their char for ranks.
As my last post for 2 years:
devs, you guys need to do some long term planning and do it. If players complain, look into it. As of now, people complain about TC bugs and they go live within a week. Nothing is tested, and publishes are nothing but bug fixes that shouldn't be there in the first place.
Most of all I can sense that communication between depts. are shrinking. You guys need to talk to each more often.
Also, any group of devs can make a game- its when the group decides to go above and beyond, does teh game become one of the best. Devs- dont settle for easy fixes. Don't settle for misisons on capital ships as capitla ship content- make HUGE fleet battles in a huge arena. Make it so they fight for something.
Make large raids with AT-ATs and tie bombers. Make this game what it was originally dreamed up to be- a Star Wars universe where players can live in. Not some flashy- jedi online game. You guys also need to fix timeline issues- hard to immerse ourselves into the SW theme if nothing fits.
Just my 2 cents.
And no, you cna't have my stuff as I might come back if game improves after I come home.
Cya all!

Theres a chance your character will be deleted by then, as anything after 6 months has a questionable lifespan.
Regardless though, have fun on your mission. Oh, and you're a geezer.

i quit for over a year, maybe about a year and a half, and my guy was fine. I think they say they can delete to cover themselves or so you dont quit.

Yah, deleted characters mean a returning customer isn't going to stick around very long.
