I heard up to five can have same contract. Do you have to use different terminals? Or have I and my partner just been unlucky?

You can use the same terminal. Visability aside, it's all random. Considering that there would be at least 200 Jedi on the terminals, and an average of 1 Jedi per refresh, that's 200 refreshes to THEORETICALLY find the one Jedi. You might find the Jedi within 10 refreshes... or 100... or 1000...
