Yo,
This has nothing to do with BH'ing. I tried to find a good spot for this post and this is the best I could do. Goes to show...don't listen to a word I say.
I have been playing video games sinceI had my good ol' Commodore 64. Remeber those?
I beenplaying SWG for almost a year now and like any serious relationship, my love for it is tinged with hate.
I have been waiting on an MMPORPG to do what none of them have ever done before. Ever.
Trinkets and maintainance-free vehicles/houses and cool lookingstuffis all fine and dandy...butI have been thinking:
What if...there was a game...with a board of Writers, and a board of Devs working together?
A game where the Writers would be providing CONSTANT plot progression and advancement. Twists, turns and turning points wouldinteract with politics and human response and the Devs woulddo what they're best at...development. I just wish this game had more writing in it, y'know?More plot. Human driven plot not NPC missions. It just seems like such a waste to have all these people connected together without truly taking advantage of the games true potential.
Maybe I'm just a dork but the thought of a game like that gives me goose-bumps. Maybe it's just the writer in me. Hey at least there's fan fiction lol
Like I said...my love for this game is like an addiction. No matter how much it punishes me I keep coming back for more. So I hope this excuses my day-dreams.
That's all.
Move Along Citizens.

There were story arcs in the past, but implementing those takes an aweful lot of time which either needs to be taken from other duties (such as bug fixing or expansion development) or to be provided by newly hired developers. Both costs SOE money, so I wouldnt count on it.

well thats the thing. Instead of developers doing the "writing" it would be the "writers". they would needno technical skill whatsoever. just posses the talent it takes to write plots,brain-storm ideas and produce plot within the technical capibilities of the devs.
devs should be incharge of adapting the systems to new plots and such. and another class of devs should be incharge of maintanace and trouble shooting.
i'm not talking about SWGbut rather a game in general.
maybe swg 2? like everquest 2? set in post return of the jedi?
i would pay $49.99 a month for something like that.
i know that not everybody could afford that but thats even better. less people=less probs. plus less people+more $$$ for dev's=happy devs lol
like i said...if wishes were a dime a dozen...i'd stillbe rich.
