We all have been caught up in the changes to mission terminals. Though I feel this will benefit the bounty hunter community in the long run, I do understand the frustration that comes with not knowing the name of the bounty.
If we analyze how bounties are normally run both in real life, the Star Wars saga, and the game we will see very large chasms in ideologies of what a bounty hunter must do to be contracted for the bounty, track the bounty, and confront the bounty.
In most real life instances a bounty progression is as follows:
1. Individual performs and illegal or detremental act
2. Law enforcement or private entity seeks the retrieval of the above person
3. The above entity hires a bounty hunter to retrieve the individual
4. The bounty hunter is given information about the bounty...
> Name if available
> Description of Bounty
> Level of Threat
> Reason for retrieval
> Amount to be paid
5. With the information provided the bounty begins his hunt
In this instance the bounty hunter will use what was provided to track down the bounty, such as last known location, description, name of the bounty, etc...
What is interesting in this account though is that someone normally will find a bounty hunter to take up the challenge, the bounty hunter doesn't need to go out and search fora contract. The entity will contact the bounty hunter or have a reputation with the hunter already, which allows them to contact them.
It is a similar case when it comes to bounty hunting in the Star Wars saga. In almost all cases in which we see bounty hunters and them track their marks, the bounty hunter was called by Jabba or the Empire to perform this task. Upon accepting the task or even before they were given the information needed. Name, last location, description, level of threat, and amount they would be paid.
It is preposterous to think that a bounty hunter could actually do his job without one ofthree things....
1. The name of the mark
2. A very good description of the mark
3. The last known location of the mark
Now, I realize this is a game, but the fact that two out of three instances of bounty hunting (Real life and Star Wars) require those above items and the third instance (Being SWG, which is supposed to be based off of Star Wars) does not require the above items is mind boggling.
So, I'd like to offer a solution to the issue. Hopefully bringing together real life hunting, Star Wars, and SWG will make this a viable and agreed solution to both the BH community and the Jedi community.

The New Bounty Hunting System:
Timeline of a Hunt-----
1. Bounty hunter must "find" an informant throughout the galaxy
(These will be random much like resources are)
>>In addition the informant will be either an Imperial informant or a Rebel informant.
>>Rebels go to the Rebel informant and Imperials go to the Imperial informant.
2. Bounty hunter speaks to the informant and is given a list of possible bounties
>>This list will be much like a terminal, however the hunter already knows
the faction of the bounty.
>>The list will contain the amount of payout, level of difficulty based upon
the Bounty Hunter vs. Mark CL levels...
>>This level of difficulty will factor in the assumed 1.5x constant of Jedi
power against standard player power
>>Bounty hunter can chose bounty based upon difficulty level, faction,
and payout at this point
3. After Bounty Hunter chooses his mark he will be able to chose one of two options
>>Option A- The Name of the Mark
>>Option B - The Current Location of the Mark
4. Upon completion of the selection the Bounty hunter will either be given a system
message containing the location as well as a waypoint as of the selection or they
will be given the marks name and no location
5. The Bounty hunter can now follow the path based upon their option selection
>>They can chose to proceed to the marks location if that was his selection, where
they would then most likely launcha seeker droid.
>>They could launch a Arakyd to find the planetary location of their mark based
upon the name received and proceed to the location of the mark
6. If Option A was selected the mark will be readily noticeable upon arrival of the
Bounty hunter to the marks location after they track the mark using droids.
7. If Option B was selected the Bounty huntermaynotice the mark by the TEF,
but loses some suprise elements because he found the mark so quickly due
to selecting the option toreceive the marks last location
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This system will due a few things.
First: Actually add some roleplay elements to the game through having to find
informants as well as give us options forfinding our marks
Second: Give the Bounty hunter an option when it comes to the style of tracking
they like to do
Third: Give Bounty hunters the ability to see the difficulty of the mark they are
chasing as well as what the mark is worth
Fourth: Give Jedi a slight advantage when the mark choses to find the location
of the Jedi
Informant Information:
The placement of informants to actually get the missions from would do away with the need for BH terminals when it comes to player character bounties. Existing terminals can still be used for NPC bounties. In addition, the existing informants would remain for the NPC bounties and new informants with special names/tags will randomly spawn in time intervals at pre-determined locations.
The Bounty hunters will know the general location of where these informants spawn, but they will have to actually try to find informants.
This also will deter Jedi from having their alternate characters log in to see if they are "on the terms" as well as taking their bounty, since most Jedi will not want to spend that much time finding an informant and making the selections.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I urge you to review the above idea and spread it around if it is something you may be interested in.I realize that many people will not like a system like this as it actually requires some form of work in order to receive a bounty, however I feel that the options that are given make up for the work completed. Also, the system will satisfy those that are looking forward to the terminal changes as well as those that do not like it.
The main things to note here are...
>> You have the option of receiving the name of the mark
>> You have the option of immediately knowing the current
location of the mark (Though this is a one time location)
>> You will know the faction of the mark before selecting
>> You will know the difficulty of the mark before selecting
>> You will know the payout of the mark before selecting
I look forward to hearing your replies.

Is my idea too long? Or is it just such a good idea that no one can criticize or agree with it?
