On your server maybe the BHsare using the bombs for AoE attacks at the wookie spawns. The only way to make them a viable economical option is to take a whole grinding group in one go.
Luckily not all DEs charge 400k for their droids so I can report that they do have their uses, although after reading a post in here last week my droids spend much of their time following Jedi at Theed and Coronet starports, FR3 is very fast isn't it.

I charge 400k for a crate of 5 and their power 59 bomb droids
