The way they should have let ppl become jedi.

Insted of the holo grind and village they should have done this. When your char was created it should have been given a number in the server data base. Once every month the server does a random number roll with the numbers in the data base for chars. It would roll 2 times, the two numbers that came up from the ramdom roll could be come a jedi. Once those numbers have been rolled they are removed from the data base and a email is sent to the player telling him they made jedi.

This would have limited the jedi population to a max of 24 jedi created per year. No changes to the grind to lvl up your jedi. Bh could still hunt them but it would give reason to jedi being so strong do to the fact thier numbers would have been kept low.

Think about it this system would have rocked. We would at max have 48 jedi on any server since the game went live in july of 2003.

Would ppl be leaving over this i think not. Any char would have had the same chance to make jedi do to ramdom roll. Ppl would have stuck around who wanted jedi becuase ( who knows i may get jedi next month). Would ppl be leaving because of to many jedi, no. Would only be a max of 48 jedi in any server for the 2 years this game has been live.

Well, this is just my thought on how it could have been done. To late now i guess.

From your point of view, I agree with you... this would have been cool and made more sense, given the time period. At the same time, SWG wouldnt have been popular. Why? Because when you are asked what would you be if you werein the SW universe, more people than not would have saidJedi. IT's a selling point. "Come to SWG and become a jedi." See what I mean?

Yes i see what you mean. Could have added some things in that could have brought your chances up of winning a roll. Such as quests, badges, theme parks, exploring and stuff.

Wasn't this one of the rumored ways of becoming a Jedi when SWG launched?

FYI anyone remember everyone and their mother having the helper tag up?

1. Helper tag.

2. Completing NPC quests.

3. Your appearance.

4. Random lottery number.

5. Theme parks.

6. Faction rank.

7. Mysterious NPC that appears randomly on Tat.

8. Finding Luke.

9. Finding Yoda.

Thats all I remember. Getting all misty eyed thinking back to the good ol days.

That would have been best idea of all. Heck i would let them have 99% saber block and 5k LS damage sabers along with unlimited heals.

This is sorta the way it was before the path was known. What happened were all the jedi wannabes were bashing SOE and starting big protests becuase they wanted to be jedi. Some game magazines wrote some articles about the issue and bashing SWG and giving them bad reviews. So SOE gives everyone christmas holos and everyone starts unlocking like crazy. But then people started bashing SOE becuse grinding all those professsions was not fun, and it did really mess up the economy and turned most jedi wannabes into expert macro/afk grinders, creating a big afk society.

Now they release ROTW and put in all these exploitable xp spots for jedi to grind so now you have a massive AFK jedi grinding thing going on.

The fact is that so many people wanted to be a jedi is the reason there are so many jedi. I think that SOE should have not put jedi in the game as a playable class but the fact is that this game probably would have been shut down if they didnt. The only solution is to balance jedi against everyone else and fix the exploits.
