Thread: So how's this for a buggy bounty?

So I'm still trying to loot my complete set of Black Sun armor and am running NPCs. Of course with my current luck I think I might just be better off killing Operatives on Yavin. Speaking of Yavin, that's where my current bounty registers at. I head to the North OP expecting him to be near there but the arakyd waypoint shows him at the SW one. I do a quick hop but no luck when I arrive. I send out a seeker and start biking my way north again. I guess right and he's traveling the same way I am.

Sure enough he's sitting in the biggest damn tree I've ever seen. I target him, turn on auto attack, and walk around the tree hoping to get lucky. I send in a droid, I AOE nearby mobs, I set up a camp (and can visually see my mark on my screen), try auto attack, try my droid, try AOE... nothing. It's late and of course I'm too stubborn to drop yet, so I log off.

2 days later (work sucks) I log back in only to find my new best friend standing beside me. I can still see him because graphically we're both "inside" this gigantic ass tree. Oddly enough he's still yellow named with 34k health, but he's now a grey con'd CL 0. I try shooting but again, can't see target. I try the same route of attack plus sending in a melee pet b/c I had heard this works. It doesn't so I'm stuck pondering what to do.

I send a cross server tell to a fellow hunter, Aanu, looking for some insight. He suggests using a bomb droid but needs to log off for the night. After he's gone I set up camp, call my droid, and see how close I can get the droid to my mark. Of course when I try to detonate my droid the system tells me I also can't see him, so I try something else. I leave camp and try to see if he'll follow him then, but first the droid goes to the outside of the camp, waits, then enters. I call him back, type "/tar <mark's name>;chase" in my chat box, start the detonation process, and enter the text. My little droid goes through the same motions: *3* starts to move, *2* stops just outside the camp, *1* just starts to move towards my mark, and *BOOM*. Now here's where it gets really odd.

Mydroidand my markdisappear in a flash of light, but I still have the NPC targeted. While I wondering what the hell happened to him I look in the upper right corner of my screen and see that he's now some 5.6 KM away. Unfortunately I lose my target on him before I can gauge where he warped to, but I think the red arrow was pointing towards the North OP. Since the North OP was 8km away, that meant he was somewhere in between... if he was warped that way at all.

Right as I'm about onto my bike the new seeker I had sent updates... 64m from where I was standing. So now not only do I have a warped mark, but I also have a buggy droid. I bike the whole way north hoping my target macro picks him up, but it doesn't and the whole time my droids update at the same spot. I shuttle back south and bike back to the waypoint and try scouring the area to no avail.

So here is my assumption of what happened: When the invisible marks were around you could pinpoint his location with ranger track (droids were too inaccurate), mark the WP, then drag a mob onto the spot with an AOE and you could literally watch your bounty drop from the sky and start attacking you. Then when invis marks were fixed the patch notes read "fixed an issue that spawned NPC bounties high above the terrain." So apparently our "invisible" marks weren't invisible, they were just spawning super high into the air. So my assumption is that when my mark warped 5.6km away but my droids still showed him nearby, I had actually just blown him sky-high... literally he was nowgraphically 5.6km above me.

I have no way to prove my hypothesis, but either way I ended up dropping the mission. I'mpositive this mark was carrying all 5 of my missing schematics, plus a few +25 SEAs

LOL, and you're pretty patient for reading through that whole damn post.

As for myself, I'd say I'm more obsessed than patient. I think i get it from the days that it would take 40-90 minutes walking to my mark, so I'd be damned if I went home empty handed without knowingI had tried my all.

I had a mission and logged out, came back (after the recent patch) and went to my mark. It was cl0 with 30k life. I started shooting it and it never once returned fire. I killed it and looted nothing. I think the patch changed something and all the current targets were put to clvl0 for some reason. As for the warping, You got me there=] too bad you can get in a ship and fly stright up to see if you can find him.

Somebody has to go back and get a ****load of dimes!
