Well, the short story is that the game has changed ALOT.
There is a new combat system that was just implemented less than a week ago that still has a few bugs. A few people holding onto the old combat system, which sucked, don't really like the new system. I love it.
This won't be the game you left a year ago (thank god).
As a smuggler/pistoleer you will now excel at laying states, rooting, and debuffing enemies.
A few cool smuggler moves exist now too. Last Ditch is really a last ditch - the lower your health goes, the more damage it does. Only problem is that you can be incapped VERY easily after using it.
Check out some other combat upgrade threads and enjoy!

Saying that this new game has a few bugs is like saying The Titanic had a little hole in it.
I'm giving it a chance, but I ain't impressed.

My character, Sarlok, was a smuggler/pistoleer and it looks like that isn't very unique anymore
With the new system I am having a blast as a smuggler/pistoleer. You find2 fast specialswith low action cost and a fast gun and you alternate back and forth between the 2. If you just spam one only its counterproductive. It helps to throw some states on like intimidate shot or root them. You can stillset up your character to auto attack but I think its better with it off.
It was boring as hell in the old system to me. You feel moreinvolved in thiscombat now, spiceis essential as food wont stack but spice will stack on to food, they removed doctor buffs. Its a bit dumbdowned andmore arcadey feeling,which some dont like but I love it. There is still variation in like leveled weapons, just not as extreme. It is more level based now but gear does still matter. You cant can still solo. It is just wayharder than it used to be.You just can'tsolo high end mobs.
The thing I like most is you can choose to wear BE clothing instead of full armor, and it seems practical in pvp according to your style of playing. If your wearing armor, your movement, and firing rate is slowed, but of course you tankbetter. BE They have clothing nowyou can stack up and get your ranged defense very high, or you can opt for armor or a combination of both. There's more style now in looksand it has practicality to that role,not just composite. And lastditch is now exactly as its description says- If it sticks theyre dead.. If you do it too soon or miss- its over for you.

three pieces of advice....
1. re-cancel. it's not worth it;
2. if you choose to ignore #1, go ahead and finish up with your current swordsman/ch template before respecing to BH. getting swords or creature exp is easier than getting the BH exp + the 3 weapon trees;
3. see #1.
the biggest problem i've encountered is just the sheer boredom i've been suffering. ever since you couldn't have a bounty hunting buddy - bh'ers have truly been forced to solo for their content. that's fine every now and then - but taking bh mission after bh mission (mostly npc) doing the same thing over and over again is simply boring. the chance at getting good loot doesn't change that.
then there's the whole barrel of problems associated with jedi hunting, including, but not limited to -foul mouthed poor sports, knockdown bugs, the /duelexploit, the cooldown workaround exploit, not being able to track jedi on kash...
i dunno...i liked this game better 18 months ago when there were no jedi, when there was no need to grind like crazy, where this game still felt like star wars.
if you're coming back to play star wars, then you are coming to the wrong game. the only thing star wars about this game is the name, at this point. everything else has been so bastardized that slapping storm trooper armor on every once in a while doesn't change the fact that there should never have been so many friggen jedi running around.
that's my opinion. i've felt like this for a while but have always hung around waiting for a new publish to create some content or fix some serious mechanical issues with the GCW or SOMETHING...
but the developers have strayed too far from the promise of this game at release.
Template:
Master swords, x1xx Teras Kasi, xx4x pikeman, master brawler, 4004 doctor, get some nice 75% armorbreak sliced armor layered for kinetic and another set layered for energy, grab a nice powerhammer with a good slice/pup some foods/spice and you'll pretty much own just about anything pvp or pve. And you will laugh in the face of those silly post-cu Jedi
(what armorbreak?)
Greeleaf,
Thank you for your opinion. I left the game just as they were releasing the lame holocron grind system and only came back now because I am bored with WoW and I wanted to try the CU for myself. Honestly, I really wanted to play a Jedi character myself but the obvious time requirement to unlock the abilities has me reconsidering.......that and from what I've read and heard there are quite a few "Jedi" who are of poor character. This is all hearsay of course and I have no room to judge especially since I have run into almost no one else in the week I've been playing again.
I will play for a bit longer and see for myself if this is the game I really want to play. Perhaps I'll persue the path of the Jedi and perhaps not. It sounds more fun to kill them at this point ![]()
