Yea, i just made master bounty hunter last night after spending a ton of time grinding out the last investigation skill. I started this journey by getting my tail end handed to me by the new elite and boss marks almost ever time. But with the good advise from the people that post on these board, better equipment, and a ton of practice from the grind, I was able to turn that around and win almost every time. I still have a little trouble with the -36 to 38k boss marks some times. i am now ready to go on to the real hunts, the Jedi, and i know they are all crying because they now lose a lot of xp, but sorry, live with it or just play your alt.
So, what advise do all the veteran hunter that claim to kill jedi all the time, have for a MASTER BOUNTY HUNTER (YEA)/ MR/ CM4000, for hunting jedi. I want the first hunt to be a kill.
BTW, I got a Maxed out Scatter pistol and Laser rifle, all new 7000 energy armor, and some good foods and drinks last night to get ready. The weapons and armor will be sliced today before the fight, if that makes a difference.
Another avenue would be to practice against your guild jedi. Obviously you don't want to be killing them, just trying for an incap here....
There are 2 routes you can go. You can do a duel against them, then leave the area, and try to "hunt" them with say /findfriend instead of your BH droid. That works for some realism, but they are expecting it.
The way I prefer to "train" new BHs is to have them leave the guild, create another guild, then declare war on that guild. That way, they can hunt the guild jedi, anytime and unexpectedly. To simulate the "realism" of the BH droid, you can use the following macro:
/findfriend JEDINAME; /pause 10; /macro MACRONAME
Reason I like number 2 here, is that it's not likely that you will easily beat a Jedi who knows you are coming after him. They have their food in, buffs on, macros running, and they are expecting a battle. The best times to get them, are when you catch them off guard. ie, landing at a shuttleport, coming out of a mall, grinding against a lair, on a quest, chatting with friends, etc.
Your guild Jedi are probably going to be more than willing to mentor you in Jedi killing also. They will tell you stories of how they lost to BH's.... pay attention, you can use those tactics too!
Your first hunt will probably not result in a kill for you though. Practice is one thing, the real deal is something else entirely. You will need time to learn your professions and how they related to PvP and PvP against Jedi. There are 2 different distinct tactical styles there. Also, what's good against a MDefender is not going to work against a MLS, or MPowers Jedi. Take your time, be patient, and have fun with it. Don't get yourself down if you lose a lot in the beginning. It's all part of the learning curve.
