Thread: Old timer BH running into trouble, needing some tips

I've been a MBH since a few months after launch, and have enjoyed it the entire time, only occasionally taking a break from hunting targets to do quests or have fun in space. I've been mostly working on the Kashyyyk quests recently, so I'm not very up to date on the newest bh changes. I decided to take a mission today, and ran into my target in Daoba Guerfel, turns out he's a cl81, 32k ham, and has the double gold chevrons around his name and ham bar. I took my normal foods, kd'd the guy, did my duelist stance, and critical and spray shotted the crap outta the target, but couldn't get his health down past 60%. Me, on the other hand, I couldn't keep up with the damage he was dealing, and died when I ran out of mind. Since I was smart enough (lol) to clone before starting the fight, I was able to come back and try again virtually brand new, with one exception. Before the first fight, I also used that force crystal that gives 2k health for 2 hours. Needless to say, the second fight, and third one were both much shorter than the first. I even used a bomb droid, which pretty much only broke one of my target's fingernails.

My template is: Master Bounty Hunter, Master Carbineer, Combat Medic 4000, Enhanced Reflexes 0300

With my clothing that I wear, my ranged defense is278 (the target is ranged, melee defense won't make a difference), my carbine speed is 108, and my accuracy is 225.

The foods I take are: Vagnerian Canape (health +374, mind regen +200, health regen +50), Vasarian Brandy (health regen +412, action regen +200, mind regen +50), Booster Blue (health +20%, health regen -20%, action regen +20%, mind regen +20%), Synthsteak (mitigation bonus 40), and Warryl Surprise (defense +39, riposte +10, health regen +100). In addition to all these (which I very rarely have to touch any of them), I used the force crystal.

Also, the clothing I use has healing bonuses along with the accuracy and speed bonuses for my carbine skills.

This is the first time I've had to fight a boss NPC, and most of the fights I've been in against jedi have been far easier than this. Any tips would help, I don't want to let this target go.

L/R biceps: >33k condition, standard protection: kinetic 4939, energy 2939, special protection: heat, cold, acid and electricity: 3939

L/R bracers: >33k condition, st prt: kin 5185, en 3185, sp prt: 4185

Chestplate: >26k con, kin 5062, en 3062, sp prt: 4062

The gloves, pants, boots and hat I wear aren't armor, they're bioclothing with defensive and healing attachments. Could it be that I should wear armor pants and a helmet too?

Your armor is your problem.

You need to wear armor in every spot except for hands and boots. It is far more important than some BE clothes with melee/ranged defense. Also, BE clothing only stacks to +25...so if your clothing is giving you more than +25 in def...its a waste..yes, I know it shows up in Ctrl-C and S, only +25 actaully works.

on to the armor.

You need energy resists as high as you can get. With your template of MCarb, battle armor is the best you can get. You should be able to find some with 6K-6.6K energy resists. You'll find that armor handy when hunting jedi as well. An additional thing to add would be 75% armor break reduction to each of the peices as well. But you wont need that till you start hunting jedi a lot.

The assault armor that is certed for BHs is actually the poorest armor for the profession. It should be given to melee and recon or combat give to the BHs.

Cool, thanks. Good thing I'm making my alt a master armorsmith then. In the meantime, I'll have to do some armor shopping.

Never hurts to try. I use a decent base set of Ubese with 7k energy resistance, and I hardly get hit at all by 82 marks.

"I'll take "Where's my game?" for $1000 Alex. Sorry. Wrong game."

"Wouldn't it be cool if they would allow neutral smugglers to bring in
some form of supplies to the area? Oh wait, that is smuggling. Not
being done. Nevermind.

It'll be for the best in the long run.

I dont know if would slice armor for armorbeak until you know you will be hunting Jedi. And in the long run it maybe more cost effective to make one set of "uber" armor. Meaning put all your SEA's on that and slice it for armor break. While keeping a grinding set of armor for just NPC marks.

I'm sure once you get the hang of it, you'll be alot better. But you probably dont want to use those combination of food and bomb droids for just an NPC mark.

Some other suggestions: Buy a PSG with mods. You can find some with range and melee defense which will take up the missing BE clothing you had to lose.

If you havent tried, check your surroundings. Stand near any neutral creature and at some point the mark will use AOE, pretty much pulling those creatures on himself and helping you out.

Thanks for the help guys, mission's finally complete. I still don't really understand the new armor system, but your suggestions did the trick. Thanks to you guys, I'm now 31k richer, minus the 700k for the armor
