I don't use one, but from what I've heard, you can get better crafted carbines.

The cpas on a nicely crafted eliete Carbine are far better thean a Proton. However a Proton carbine looks cool and still has good stats. As for the cold damage... well that's all great and wonderfull, but and inate armor the jedi has will be just as effective against cold damage, so it's just another 90 points
