Hello.
My name is Gradles and I'm a CL 21 Novice Bounty Hunter 1/1/0/1 Pistoleer 0/1/1/1 Marksman 0/4/3/4 (Shadowfire)

Hi. So anyways, I seem to be having a bit of trouble with the bounties. Every BH I've talked to so far says they have no problem with them, but my marks seem to be able to dish out WAY more damage than I can. I have Assault Composite Armorv (6XXX kinetic, 4XXX energy, 5XXX elements), a lvl 14 Striker pistol (271 dmg...the highest pistol I can use until CL 22). Every bounty I have to hit them until I'M almost dead, run away, then come back and finish the job..sometime more than once, and sometimes they heal to fast for me to do anything about it. Sometimes they incapacitate me before i can get away, and sometimes they kill me, which is doing WONDERS for my armor, as you undoubtedly know. So, I figure -
A.) I'm doing something wrong, which is entirely possible because I've only been playing 2 weeks.
or
B.) Nothing is wrong, and this is the way it should be.
Now, with that said, I was wondering if there are any particular skills i need to raise my CL. At CL 22 I can use the nastier pistol and carbine I picked up which would make my job alot easier...of course we all know how hard it is to raise skills now.... So last night I was grinding solo for HOURS to get the Improved Quick Draw skill, which I figured would raise my CL, but NNNOOOOOOOOOO it didn't...to my surprise and disgust i was still 21, so that means more hours of grinding or even MORE hours of bounties. Also, when I respeced my character I noticed I had enough XP to raise my carbine lvl under Marksman to 3, figuring THAT would raise my CL, but it didn't also. Are there certain skills that raise it and some that don't? hhmmmm....I guess I was hasty to respec, but who knew the great and terrible CU was coming, eh? Oh well...
Any suggestions along these lines would be helpful, as I am relatively inexperienced. Help a brother out!!!
p.s Anyone happen to know if woolamanders can grow to be badass? I have a lvl 10 one andI was considering getting somone to train him for me.

get medic 0030, some bacta shot,and a weaponsmith crafted striker pistol, the weaponsmith crafted one should be around 300 something max dmg
use kip up shot to increase your defense, sometimes it helps to go in melee on those guys, anduse your KD (firearm strike)

Also, some recon armor (certed at novice pistols) with high energy resists unless you are forcing your marks to melee.

ooh just noticed. it is wayyyy easier to grind 10k of investigation xp before you train investigation I. THen you can train I and II in one shot. The problem with missions you get with investigation I is they can be off planet and take a lot longer to finish for just about the same xp. SO i would also suggest yo udrop investigation I and do nov bh missions until you get 10k of investigation XP.
Or if you want to try, you could use the duelist stance you get at investigation I to help your defenses also. make a macro for it -
macro name: duelist
/dueliststance;
/pause 26;
/tell myself duelist stance refreshing please stand still;
/pause 5;
/macro duelist

aahhh...thank you for the advice...
how does not having investigation 1 allow me to grind it faster? do i get more xp or something? maybe i didnt notice....
oh, and macros...i havent even dabbled in macros yet. they are a mystery to me....

the novice bh mission marks are on the planet you get the mission on. i believe at investigation I your mark may be on other planets, requiring you to use arakyd and seeker droids to find your mark. you will be able to grind 10k investigation xp much faster as novice bh than going up to investigation I after getting 1k investigation xp.

Yes, grind out 10k of investigation before you train in 1xxx!!!
Also, you might want to grind up your ranged profession to master (if you plan to) before you attemp BH missions. This way you will at LEAST be able to use the adv laser rifle at lvl 54.

actually every bounty i've had has been on the same planet, and you cant even use droids until you get investigation 1. if i drop investigation 1 i'll be at cl 20 again...so i'm a bit apprehensive to do it. what i dont understand is, i accept the bounty, then i go to the spynet dude and he gives me the mark. so once i tried to use a seeker droid and it said "you must first speak with a spynet operative to get a bio-signature". but if the spynet provides the mark, what good is the seeker droid anyways? for if the mark is on another planet?
oh yeah, tough time finding weaponsmiths...i go from planet to planet searching and also just asking the general public. i've scoured the bazaar for the galaxy and gone to many vendors, but no one has what i need.

but if i only get like 136 bh xp per kill, how is it faster, and what's the difference in not having 1XXX?

Because you won't have to chase the marks all across the galaxy! At Investigation 0 you don't have to use Arakyds/Seekers/assloads of time. If you have the want, you can even pick and choose until you get a mark in the same CITY without much effort. I had plenty that spawned in attack range making my travel time NIL! If you're working the Coronet terminal and informant then you will save yourself a TON of time by capping your xp before training a single Investigation skill.

I had the same prob at lower levels. I finally found a vendor on shadowfire called prestige weapons and he had stuff lower levels can actually use. It's on Naboo and not too far from Brenn, but I cant remember waypoint. If Gradles is your in game name, I can email you the waypoint this evening.

so i just got invest two and tried a mark....im new to bh, and wth, i went to the planet and the waypoint and he was gone.....do i have to keep useing them intill i find him....? wth
