Thread: I don't understand what's going on here...

I logged on for the first time in about a month. Work and faimly matters kept me from keeping up with all that has been going on.

I start by getting a lvl 80 mission thinking "I will get a CL 80 target". I get to my mark and it is CL82. So I figure I have soloed CL 82 single targets before. I eat my food, be sure my buttons are all lined up and wallah, I get my ass handed to me withen seconds, thourghly pissing me off and left me wondering wth are the devs doing?

I barely scratched my target no matter what I through at it.

Now I have 100 freakin wounds, sitting in a medical center and it will take an hour for all those wounds to tick off cause there are no doctors anywhere.

I understand that there needs to be risk, there needs to be a challange, however I didn't think they would make it so freakin hard I would have to group to do bounty missions. I DON'T want to group to doNPC bounty missions. If I pick an even CL bounty mission I expect an even CL bounty target. I didn't even get his health bar down a 1/4. What gives? The damage multiplier kicked my ass and there was absolutly nothing I could do about it. My armor made no difference at all, almost like it wasn't even there.

Why the hell should I waste my time on this? I have some of the best armor, best weapons, best foods and this stuff made no difference at all. I have stims, but I took damage so fast that the stim made absolutly no difference, might as well have left the stims in the crate.

I don't want a medic profession, I want to be able to do NPC bounty missions on my own. When I log in during the morning before I head to work I just want to do a couple missions then head out. Am I going to have to spend 3 or 4 hours LFG like you have to inEQ now? Are the lower level mission the same? If I pick alvl 78 mission will I get a CL80 target? Or should I even bother to try and find NPC missions or should i just forget about NPC missions?

Need some advice. What do you do, what equipment do you reccomend? I am not intrested in doing a template change, so what should I do to improve my charactor to where I stand a remote chance of defeating my mark on NPC bounties?

Hmm, It did have some kind of symbol next to his name, is this something new that was added during my absence? At the risk of sounding rude I am not asking how easy you have it, I want to know why it is easy for you cause my mark sure didn't seem that easy to me. I was dead in about 4 shots.

If they have the <<name of mark>> and they are gold it will be a tough fight.

They added more difficult Mobs which are supposed to drop much better loot.

These are Boss mobs that you may get at random.

You NEED to have some healing to take on the bosses which is what you encountered, otherwise you WILL die. What equipment do you have and what are the stats? What weapon? What is your armor and energy resists on it? What food do you use?

By just telling us you have all the "best" equipment, weapons, armor, food....that's pretty vague. How about sharing some of this information with us as far as WHAT equipment, weapons, armor, food you are using, then maybe we can help. Things have changed since you have last played.

Also what tactics do you use? Do you have any prep at all or just run guns a blazin'? Bosses are easy once you adjust to them.

Give us more info.

Hmm he probably killed you becuase

1.) you were wearing Kinetic armor like assault , and not recon, or vice versa depending on his weapon.

2.) your probably using a crappy gun with a SAC of 80+

3.) Poor tactics No use of PSG.

Take a look at this thread for some tips!

Bocefus2000:

They catch you offguard the first time. Couple things to bear in mind:

Not all of them are that tough. The occasional one has the double gold chevron and is extremely tough (at least the first couple times). Soem ahve HAM in excess of 35k. Thats like a Krayt, only it can hit you from 80 meters. 600 damage a hit is painful, to be sure.

However, all is not lost. You do NOT need a medic profession. You will, however, either need a friend who CAN heal you, or some non-medic stimpacks (which cost about 125-450k a crate depending on how much is in the crate). These in stim-D format can heal about 1100 a use. To go along with these you will want Ruby Biel food so you can heal more often. Just in case.

Next, make sure you know the application and best use for ALL of your specials. What is your template by the way? Root is all but useless on these targets unless you plan to run. And I dont advise that...if they follow and then -Retreat- you are NOT going to be happy watching their 35k ham regen in less than 30 seconds.

Trial and error works. The frist gold chevron mark i had with 35k took three tries. Finally got him, however. The rest have been not too difficult in comparison. Having a god-like weapon, a good shield generator and some skill tapes go a long way too.

I don't have all stats off hand on my equipment but I know my weapon is a gorax enhanced FWG5, max dmg just under 1k. Maybe my armor is too low resist, I dunno. I eat/drink a couple different foods and I have the village buff crystal, maybe I should use that buff crystal if I get another mark like that next time I try. Now that I know these 'boss" mobs are intentional I will try a few things different. I know it was a bit frustrating for me (incase you couldn't tell )

I have specific shots I normally use first, knockdown, hit them with a bleed and stopping shot.I try to use state shots, but my state shots were resisted every time I used them.

I am wearing a set of Comp.

SAC on my pistol is not an issue.

Yes, I have a PSG. Tactis adjustment advice is what I was asking for.

You are welcome

Tactics are always an issue. What works in PvP will soemtimes work in PvE, though usualy at a far different rate. Thank the devs that NPCs do not use healing skills on themselves, at least.

Bear in mind, also , friend, that these high profile marks generally have VERY good loot. On a lucky roll you can make a cool million on a single NPC mark...or much more. I managed an 5 million value skilltape last time. Sadly, I need to save it for my own use

Take the time to read patch notes. This is an upgrade to the BH system. We have an oportunity to get some really awsome loot now from killing our marks. When doing this some of them will be Elites (singe chevron that looks like this: <name> in white) and Boss Marks (Double Chevron: <<Name>> in gold). When you get the Elites they'll be a bit tough. When you get the Bosses though it's gunna be a very hard fight. The idea was to make BH challenging at the same time rewarding; however, we've been noticing that the difficulty of the mark does not represent the value of the loot you get. You may want to try getting lower lvl missions if you do not want to have quite as hard a fight but regardless youshould be pulling Elites and Bosses both at your level. You kinda have to just tough it out. I'm still grinding BH and have most of CM but am only lvl 69. I pulled a lvl 75 Elite and died to it once before I was able to take it down. It happens but the cost is differed by the reward.
