Thread: The bonus from duelist stances..

Now on paper, Imporved Duelist stance gives you 250 extra defense right? wow that's nice, you'd think..


But in practice the difference is this?


Jedi hits you for 576pts <--- Without Improved Duelist stance


Jedi hits you for 562pts <--- With Improved Duelist stance



I tried this with a jedi repeatedly, with the same special. How come 250 extra melee defense only mitgates 14pts of damage?

Because defence pushes the weapon towards its min value, on BH whos weapons often range 300-900 etc thats a huge difference but with jedi's lightsabers the min max ratio is alot tighter often 100 points or less (630-711 etc) between min and max so defence does alot less.

main reason to get your defense higher and the jedi accuracy lower is to increase his miss rate btw.....so never forget to blind the jeti

This is because lightsabers only have about 100 points of damage between min and max damage. A higher defense only pushes the damage towards the minimum of the weapon used. If you did the same test with an Advanced Laser Rifle, you would notice a damage reduction around 70 to 100 points easily.
The damage reduction is only a secondary effect of the accuracy / defense ratio, by the way. The primary effect is to make your opponent miss. If you really wanted to test Duelist Stance, have your friend attack you 100 times without Duelist stance and 100 times with Duelist stance and look at the total damage dealt. Since you will get hit less often you will take a lot less damage.

I only use it when I am armor broke or rooted.... and I don't have to worry about the staying still thing or losing a round of damage dealing to theirs cause I have disarming shot. Disarming shot is probably the most UNDERATED Pistol special. I use it before state recovery, before healing, and before duelistic stance.

You are using Duelist stance in the wrong way against Jedi. High Defenses really do nothing against a Saber, it's the one thing that separates it from a normal weapon.


What it will do though is make the Jedi miss more. Include a blind, eat Pik Pie and the Jedi WILL miss more, trust me.

I think having to stay still to use it sucks the most. This is what makes it almost useless. YOu cannot stay still and fight jedi.
