i'd like to take a step back and look at bounty hunter as a profession and its place in the game.

every profession has a purpose, and supposedly each one is supposed to be equally useful in its own way, with their own perks that make them unique. in the CU the devs attempted to strike this balance, as explained in their CU guide. for combat classes, offense, defense, support, and crowd control. for bounty hunter, we were given a 4/5 rating for both offense and defense, and a 1/5 for crowd control. the devs have given us A LOT more skill points that we used to have (for a long time it was master scout/master marksman), thus allowing us to choose the professions to complement the BH skills we have.

it's important to note that unless we take up another combat profession, we have basically wasted our skillpoints on bh. i think this is probably obvious to a lot of you by now. in fact i would hardly consider bh a combat class by itself, i would call it more of a "utility" class. the investigation tree is really the only unique aspect of our class. most of our specials are found in the other ranged classes, with the exception of maybe advanced crit shot, which pretty makes 3 out of four of our lines pretty useless. and even if you could argue that our specials are superior to all the other classes, it seems like a waste to have repeats of high-level shots don't you think?

this may be a bit of a leap but i think bh needs to be reworked on a larger scale than just the missions. i would think it's safe to say that most players aren't bh because they want to grieve enemy jedi. they want to hunt jedi for the thrill of hunting, and the class is somewhat lacking as far as tracking goes. we send a droid off - away it goes, we wait around for a couple minutes and (usually) we get a waypoint pinpointing their exact location. to be frank, this is boring.

finding my mark should be more involved than following waypoints that update every couple minutes. the arakyd droids will let you know what planet your mark is on, and give a very rough estimate on the location (maybe 3000m max error), and seeker droids within 1000m of the mark. but wait, i'm not done yet.

in exchange we should have more options when tracking our targets. maybe i'm going overboard on this, but footprint tracking would be a very balanced / interesting tool if we could not distinguish our mark's footprints from others. we could aquire abilities to talk to certain kinds of NPCs (commoners, businessmen, factional npcs), and you would be able to question them. some NPCs may tell you if they have seen your mark and to a certain level of detail (ie which direction they went, how many times they passed etc). this is more true to what bounty hunting is all about - being a sort of detective. another added plus is this could give a boost to ranger because of its player tracking ability.

even if you these rough ideas don't appeal to you all, i think you get the basic jist of what i'm saying here.

BASICALLY what i'm saying is that bounty hunters spend too much time in front of mission terminals and waiting for droids, and not enough time actually doing the missions. the challenge should be in the mission itself, not getting the mission. because once you find a target online and not on kashyyyk, it's as simple as launching a droid and flying over there...

and if the devs ARE going to make the missions a lot harder by not giving us a name, they should raise the rewards. i can make 200k in an hour on dantooine if i'm in a good jedi group, at least make the missions worth my time.
