yet I can send him tells just fine. Am I bugged, or is the old exploit back?

still can be buggy, but not reliably to where they can duplicate it(yet). so, had you just landed from space when you got this message? when i used to send probe droids, then launch into space and hyper to the planet, i'd get that message. took a shuttle to a diferent city, and the seekers worked fine.

I've gottten that on occasion again, he can come back "online", i suspect it has to do with space.

Yeh I got this for the first time today. Just one mark who was online but my arakyd said he wasn't 
Also got the mark is in xxx space message today 
shame I don't have a good enough ship to go and get him might have to get some more pilot skills

Sometimes you get the "your target is in space" message, and sometimes it just tells you he is offline.
If you get the space message, you should be able to lanch into space and track him down from your ship, but I dont think you can Tef.

I was chasing a jedi and he flew into space but it when I would send a droid it would say he was not online yet he really was.

When a jedis name has been changed because it was inappropriate or offensive, you get this sometimes. Its a bug and basically hooks the jedi up for the rest of his career till a CSR resets his account. At least that was how it was describle to me by the CSR i petitioned about the same porblem i had.

Seems like they need to make that a part of the procedure for renaming every character.
