I agree with you that without Jedi/BH bounties there is a lot less stress, and things are a lot better for the general game now that player bounties have been removed. However, I feel that BH has been cheapened, and that an effort can still be made for a concentual player bounty system...as my thread in this forum suggests.

How is it cheapened in any way? Those of us who chose BH when the game first launched did it because of the appeal of the profession itself, player bounties didn't exist when the game began.

So because they didn't have it at the start it's not cheapening it? lol

"Those of us" well guess what, I'm one of those and I chose it for the appeal too. But guess what? We were given something that is unique to any game out there. To say that taking that away is not cheapening us is imo, incorrect. What if the President's power of being CIC was taken away? That wouldn't be cheapening him, he wasn't born with that power?...

The way I see it, *adding* the player bounty missions (and very specifically missions that involved forced pvp) were what cheapened the BH profession... I'm glad the tarnish of forced pvp will finally be wiped away from the profession I have loved since launch.... and which unfortunately came to be associated with those who used it to grief others.

You want to know what really cheapened BH? The godforsaken FRS system where MBH were ground on to get FRS rank. THAT cheapened Bounty Hunter the most...but that's a different subject for a different day.

The only reason BH became disliked was because of the people who abused the system, and that means BOTH sides, Jedi and BH. BH using mission TEF's that never wore off, the old /duel bug, and the Jedi who rooftop ground in the oldsystem, as well as the FRS grinders mentioned above. I could go on and on about the history of player bounties.

In the end I agree with you, I'm glad that forced PvP has been removed because it has removed a ton of uneeded tension and stress between two professions, ON TOP of taking up unnecessary time on the Dev's part to fix it when they could have been doing something better.

I don't like that it came to be known as the profession used to grief others either, but I think player bounties could still be implemented. However, I will not support the recreation of the old system. I'll have no system before the old one.

Hey, maybe you can go to DC and stand in front of the IRS and cry that taxes are unfair, after all it is "forced taxation"

And some of us didn't pursue Jedi to be "uber"... so we're perfectly OK with it being a profession in equal standing with all the others... but at the same time, the fact that it's a "normal" profession also means there's no excuse for forcing pvp on anyone anymore. It works both ways.

Oh and in case you didn't know it, one of the principles upon which this nation was founded was "no taxation without representation". We got our representatives, haven't we?

What gets me is she keeps saying how she wants jedi to be like in the movies etc, when now the only similarities between movie jedi and SWG jedi are that they weild lightsabers.

SWG jedi dont even know how to use them now.

The game is based on the movies... it can't be exactly the same right down to the smallest detail. But at least it can get the basics right. And BH's never hunted Jedi in the movies.

IM a BH and knight Both. I love the hunt. I take the missions, I kicken zee ARSE.

Now What will You do?

ALAIRA.

Not to burst your bubble but, Bounty Hunters don't receive honor in not fulfilling their contracts.

It's not fun for both, just because you're a BH too doesn't mean you can speak for all of us.

I will agree however that forced PvP such as the old BH/Jedi system is not a fair system.

What will YOU do? I've done it.

alaira never once suggested she was speaking for all BH's...

That vague statement right there implies that she is. It's fun for BOTH she says, she strengthens her point with the fact she's both a BH and a Jedi. I've anticipated the argument and thwarted it.

She's referring to the two people involved in that particular duel... she's not speaking for all BH's...

That particular duel? She's talking about Jedi vs. BH as a whole.....she purposely added she's a BH and a Jedi, it made the highlighted line scream I'm speaking for everyone, Jedi and BH both. It's better without ANY player bounties! Because I'm both, and that's why!

*Both* -- "not just me" - that clearly sounds to me like there's only two people involved...

She's talking about two "types" of people. Not two individuals. Nowhere in her post does she refer to anyone by name or acknowledge any specific person. She continually refers to BH and Jedi, no more. Therefore it is only clear that she is talking about both Jedi and BH, and that she speaks on their behalf.

Now, you can say "Oh but she didn't mean that" or she can come in here and say it herself, but, there it is none the less in plain writing.

Yes but playing a jedi should somewhat feel like watching jedi in the movies. It currently does not and wont even more when the NGE goes live.

There are undoubtedly many other games that are far more starwarsy... the appeal of SWG was supposed to be the MMORPG element that you couldn't get in a console game... except now SWG is being turned into a console game...
