I sometimes find armor useful, just depends on situation. If I plan a fight with a jedi, then of course no armor, but if I'm just trying to jump one on say dathomir, I deffiantly wear armor. The creatures and npc's will usually attack you, and if you're non jedi with no armor, you get pretty damaged. Composite armor might not always be the best though, ubese is what I like to wear for low encumbrance/decently high kinetic resistance

Better pick high level jedi then, otherwise the chances are they'll still be master tka, or master swordsman or whatever and whoop your ass back to last week if you run at them unarmoured

Hello,

I decided to switch from a ranged prof, to a TKA prof. Right now I'm working on grinding my tka novice exp, and I'm still running around in my composite armor. Could someone please explain the defensive stats a tka/brawler has. Should I go ahead and get rid of my composite for a robe, or some other armor?

Thanks

Not sure on the stats I am away from my game to check at the current time.

In my opinion you should hang on to that composit armor and find youa set

of shirt and pants that have for example unarmed stun +5 and maybe other

modifiers for unarmed or defense. You dont have to wear the composite pants

anyways.

Unlike Jedi a TK's deffences arn't based on whether we are wearing armour or not & so it's really down to you what you wear.

The main extra deffence you have now is toughness, as a TKM this is around +57. This works as a simply percentage reduction to all melee attacks whether you have armour on or not, so if you have 80% kin armour on, you will first gain the benefit from that & the creature will hit for 80% less then that value that would have hit you then is reduced by 57% (though it could be 57% first then the 80% I forget off the top of my head, either way they both happen). Note that if you have Master Brawler as well as TKM you have+62 toughness insted of +57.

So with that in mind it really is down to you, personly I do without the armour alot of the time & only use it when I know I'm either going to be tanking high level mobs, or going to be fighting ranged alot. Though then again, I'm the sort of person that doesn't find a hunt as fun unless theres a chance you will get your arse handed to you.

For pve I normally don't bother with armour for creatures, although it's often necessary for npcs with shooty guns

Say no to the chassis dealer. He may seem like a good guy but that greedy Bothan sonuvabitch will rob you of your pride and your dignity

Your armor choice is really up to you, dude, and kinda depends on your style and what you're facing. Planning on going against huurtons, ubese is probably best (cheaper, high kinetic resist), for NPC's with bangbangs, something with resistance against whatever they're firing and probably a PSG, for Krayts...bring friends, need them more than armor Though since us TK's tend to be right there nose to nose with the critters, armor's gonna help there for sure.

It's hoped that the CU will make armor choices more interesting, and make going *without* armor more viable...we'll see. I still think of us TK's as martial artists, and have trouble imagining Bruce Lee running around in composite armor. I want my gi and black belt!

I just logged on for a few minutes before I had to leave for work this morning and I found my toon sitting in his boxers, a shirt, belt, and boots (it was actully kind of funny). When I tried to equip my armor (bottom of the barrel bone) I got a message that I wasn't certified to use that armor!

What gives? Are scouts no longer able to wear armor?

You do not get certed for armor now until you are an elite combat profession. Check in the skill tree of whatever elite you are going for to find out what kind of armor you will be able to wear. There are three types: Recon, Battle, and Assault.

For me personally I only know the wookiee ones off the top of my head.
Ceremonial = Recon
Black Mountain = Battle
Hunting = Assault

And my two professions:
Ranger = Battle certs
Rifleman = Recon certs

Therefore I am certed for Recon and Battle armors. I think there is a thread about the armors in the In Development board.

(yay, I figured out how to trick Lithium into letting me post!)

...so you have to get a 4 levels of a tree before you are able to wear armor? Ouch!

Thanks, I'll check out the board.

I think you get certed in the Novice box, but there are hinderances (like encumberance) that makes you move slower and shoot less accurately. You get mitigations to these as you move up the tree until at Master you have no hinderences. On the plus side, encumberance is gone.
