I fail to see how this applies to the topic at hand.
It applies to the topic at hand because it's a perfect analogy for your rationalization of forced pvp.
Autoinsurance and a video game, there is no common ground between anything he is saying. It's the job of an autoinsurance company to sell insurance and provide a product, doing what he suggests makes the idea of having autoinsurance meaningless, thus making the entire analogy baseless. The auto insurance companies tell you, you choose this insurance plan, here is what you get. You don't whine when it happens saying you should have gotten something else, you were TOLD what you'd get.The developers told you, you choose to be a Jedi, you will be hunted by Bounty Hunters if your visibility gets high enough. Therefore, when your visibilty is high enough, you will be hunted. It's not about deserving, it's about getting what you were told you'd get. You were told the consequences of being a Jedi going in, you decided to be one, live with the consequences. Whether you deserved having that system in place or not is a subject for another day. The system was there, you chose to be a Jedi and therefore inherited the consequences of being one.
The devs made a mistake and placed a flawed mechanic in the game... many people abused the game mechanic and used it to grief people... player bounties gone, problem eliminated.
Now you won't have any excuses to engage with others in forced pvp... guess that kinda makes it simpler.
Yet you complain that you shouldn't have been hunted by BH's and that they were wrong for doing what the game intended for them to do?
I have met the queen of contradiction and double-standards! Everyone, behold!
You want contradictions? LOL look at these boards... a few weeks ago you were whining because you wanted to be able to break into the houses of Jedi you were hunting... now everybody is proposing player bounties that are completely voluntary... Yeah, riiiiiight. Now that player bounties are eliminated, you talk about making it voluntary... gimme a break!
And now you're putting words in my mouth? Sorry sister, I never made a comment like that, gimme a break! Dig your hole deeper, please.

Now you're saying that it doesn't make any difference, so now TC and Live servers are the same? So why are you telling everyone that TC is so great and Live isn't when you're also saying they're the same thing? They are different, TC is a controlled environment for the purpose of testing. Live is not. You should answer Lesa's question, I'm dying to hear an answer.
I didn't say that they were the same -- your reading comprehension may need a little bit of work. I said that TC was a microcosm of live servers. Fortunately, it also meant getting away from immature players who just want to "pwn" and engage in forced pvp. There was nothing "controlled" about TC, other than the supply of resources it was pretty much the same as other servers, except for having a smaller population and allowing everyone to have three toons (four if you unlocked on TC).

JenniferAmidala wrote:Pussycat has missed my question (twice) but its a safe assumption that she was hunted on her live server.
The question is then, who made her use a force power publicly and get enough visiblity to get on the terminals?
The answer is that nobody did. She chose to do so, and she did so knowing full well the consequences that such a choice carried with it. The question I have is why is she so hell bent on claiming she was forced into doing something that she made a conscious decision to do? Nobody forced her finger onto that F key, or her cursor onto that toolbar icon, she chose to do so of her own free will, yet will not accept any personal responsibility for her actions.
Why is that Pussycat?
I have already answered this question many times... we had to deal with a profession that was poorly implemented, and with a game mechanic that made it possible for others to engage in forced pvp with us. Sure, we got visibility after we were full template because otherwise there was no way to have access to 90% of the game content, to help friends and guildies when they needed us, etc. The game mechanic was flawed and it has now been corrected. The elimination of player bounties is a step in the right direction, it will hopefully encourage griefers to leave the game and go pvp somewhere else.
Just want to throw this out there.
I hear the "you knew what jedi was when you chose to be one" and "Don't get on the terms if you don't want to be hunted."
Both of these comments are in and of itself ridiculous. Take the first one for example. When I chose to be a jedi they could wear comp armor and take out groups of players with ease. By the time I got jedi, it was drastically different and by the time I became ful template it changed again. So there goes that arguement. With each change the power was decreased, and with that - the expecation of what a jedi was, changed. Also, in almost all cases there was too much time and effort spent to just "turn back."
As for the second and by far the most un-educated post. All the content in the game revolves around NPCs which give vis. When you say don't get on the terminals you are basically telling them to sit in their house and not do anything..... and we all know how much BHs love having jedi just sit in their houses right? You would be asking someone to just not play the game.
So for one of the last times, please really think about what you say before posting. There is alot more than being so cut and dry about these kind of issues.
pussycat wrote:
It is not a spin, it's the situation as we honestly chose it... many players had to play with profession that were broken or poorly implemented... and to us, Jedi was one of them, not all of us agree about the way it was implemented or whether it was necessary in the first place -- but one thing is for sure, once players started unlocking, there was no way back. So we made the best of an imperfect situation, yes we knew that we could be hunted and that other players would try to engage in forced pvp... most of us avoided visibility before we were full template rather successfully. And when BH's finally came, we had several options to thwart the attacks even before they started. It still doesn't change the fact that it was the BH's who were trying to engage in a forced pvp situation... as I said before, in TC the game mechanism was the same but there was no forced pvp, and part of that had to do with the maturity of the player base on TC.

I'd have to say that if your insurance company did that to you, you didn't choose a very good one. Much like a person that detests being hunted breaks the rules of visibility and gets hunted made a poor choice. Nobody forces you to choose which insurance company you use, just like nobody forces you to pick a "profession" in a video game. But when you do choose, you have to bear the responsibility that comes with having made your choices. Sometimes you get blindsided, like an insurance company deciding that they're not going to cover a claim. But I do not believe that there are any Jedi that did not know that if they were on the terminals they could be hunted. Did you use your saber in front of another player character or an NPC, for instance? If you don't like having to deal with a BH after you, you chose poorly.
That's not to say that you had to enjoy being hunted. But this spin that anyone was forced into it is ridiculous.
ShadoRunner wrote:ok first off I've been a bh, but now I'm a jedi. You are all whining about jedi missions being taken out, when if you look at the movies, bounty hunters never went after jedis. Bounty Hunters went after smugglers (ie. Boba Fett tracking down Han Solo) Yes a Jedi did kill a bh in the movies (ie. Mace kills Jango) but no other times were jedis hunter by bhs. Most of the jedis if they weren't shot in the back when the emperor executed order 66 went into hiding. They did nothing to the bhs to get tracked down and killed. So if you want player missions put back in I think the bhs should be able to go after smugglers for having contraband (ie slicing tools, sliced weapons, sliced armor, spices). The way they'd get on the terms is through imperial scans. No matter what faction they are. If they are imperial they should still be subjected to the scans. Oh and one more thing, I figure if you want to be a bh you should be neutral and unguilded, so that way you would be able to hunt both sides without people getting upset about an imperial bh going after an imperial smuggler or a rebel bh going after a rebel smuggler.

We chose to said game meplay a profession that appealed to us for reasons having nothing at all to do with the game mechanics surrounding it... chanics could be used to impose forced pvp on us by the immature BH's in the game, we knew that and we still felt that the pros outweighted the cons. The game mechanic was flawed, it's pretty clear to see that it didn't work just due to the animosity and anger that it generated, not to mention the constant whining to the devs about lack of balance. The game could have been fine if they had designed an opt-out to the player bounties... but the BH's didn't support that. This is why player bounties were eliminated... this is why BH's will soon only have NPC marks and special forces status as their only choices. Yet you still don't acknowledge that imposing forced pvp on others was a poor choice. Denial is not just a river in Egypt...
Oh had to get this one too. You bought the game correct? You paid to play the game correct? You did not mind the game till jedi correct? Well you are paying to play by the game mechanics set forth by the company that made the game. You can not pick and choose what to have in the class. You wanted to RP a jedi with nothing fighting you then you should have gone out and bought the table top RPG Star Wars where you could have that. You took the jedi here and all that came with it within the game mechanics. You can not blame us for playing our class as it was supposed to be played. The empire wanted your light extinguished from the galaxy. We were the enforcers that got paid good money for it too. Yeah I saw alot of those same jedi that all complained about being hunted. You know where I saw them? At the front of a huge attack force when they had thier dual masters. They did not want to be in PvP till thier template was complete because they lost xp and it was a pain in the butt. You said it yourself the pros out weighed the cons. You knew we were part of the cons and you still took it. You have no right to complain. Your class is nerfed. Ours lost one thing. Jedi hunting. We are still great killers. I will miss the hunts because it was exciting. But I will not miss the hate tells made by the jedi afterwards. I will not miss hate tells from his friends and guild. I will not miss being bashed on the boards. I will still enjoy myself. Now you will be weak. You can RP your butt too. We can RP and we will still be strong. Think all in all and when all is said and done.....
WE WIN
Complaint? Hardly. You are completely incorrect in saying that we did not "mind" the game until Jedi. We enjoyed the game, for the most part, in spite of many bugs, broken professions, and severe dev miscalculations. We could all focus on the positive and try to have a good time, hopefully in time many of the things that weren't working right would get fixed. Along the way, two things have happened that are very positive... the elimination of faction TEFs in the GCW, and more recently, the elimination of player bounties. Since those of us who didn't get Jedi to pvp didn't care to be "uber", we don't see anything wrong with all professions being equal. We, too, will still enjoy ourselves.
Will there be some imbalance at the start? Possibly, but we'll all have 2 toons to choose from, and we can use either one depending on which one is more appropriate for the situation at hand.
OK are you too tired to read or are you my personal opinion to ignorant to read. I said you did not mind it. That means that you liked it. *EDIT is additional convo from this point* On the TEF removal and GCW that was thier worst mistake ever. Oh yeah I feel really immersed watching some low level peon killing storm troopers right in front of my face and me not being able to do a darn thing about it. Oh yeah that was a great RP move. Join the GCW with no reprecussions of your choice. Another one of your ignorant PvP rants there. You do not like PvP go play someplace else. People like you are what is ruining this game.Message Edited by fyreblayd28 on 11-10-2005 11:08 PM
LMAO, so if I don't like pvp I should play someplace else? Hello? I've got news for you -- no more forced pvp in SWG as of Nov. 15th!!!
The people who ruined the game were the griefers... you can thank them for the elimination of player bounties.

So for one of the last times, please really think about what you say before posting. There is alot more than being so cut and dry about these kind of issues.
I'm sorry, butthese people your comp armor wearing Jedi could "take out with ease" must be fresh from Eisley.
Jedi straight up sucked the big one pre7. It grew in VAST power after that publish.
To your second point, maybe you should have thought about that when you created your toon? I mean dear god, NOBODY is forcing you to do that!
So please, really think about what you're saying next time. The whole point was, you can grind your Jedi and play it, if you do, you will be hunted. You can grind your Jedi and never draw your saber, you won't be hunted. There you go, that's how it is, that's the system. Don't like it? Well, CMN and do something else.

There are no "real" BH's... everybody who had a BH toon could use it for pvp, pve, or both, and the choice doesn't make it any more or less "real".
Did you (BH'S who took Jedi missions) engage in pvp with players who did not want to pvp? YES No if you became a jedi you knew darn well there was PvP with BH's involved.
Did it ever bother you to engage in pvp with players who perhaps didn't care for it? NO Not at all cause once again you chose to be the elite class and all that came with it.
Did you feel it was OK because the game mechanics allowed you to get away with it? YES No I felt it was ok because that is what BH was about. That is what gave the best money. The best XP. You guys had the best of it. But you had to take the bad with it and it just burned you all up. You wanted to be untouchable GODS with no downside. We were your down side. Now you are going to be a normal profession and no one to blame but yourselves for it.
Would you do it again if you had the chance? YES YOU WOULD You bet your booties that every single one of us on this forum would.
Would it have killed you to ask for an opt-out option so that all of your marks would be Jedi who actually enjoyed being hunted? NO Actually that idea has been brough up numerous times. And it is still being brought up with the NGE. With the old system we did not want it because we did not want you to be the Alpha class with no down side. Like I have said we were what helped making your templates harder. That was what we were meant to do and why there was the BH vs. Jedi. We have even said that you should not lose xp but even that was not good enough. You did not want PVP then you should not have become a jedi plain and simple.
Just because something is an end all class does not mean you had to become it. How many of us BH's do you think could have had the chance to be a jedi ten times over. You could have stayed out of PvP by not being a jedi. You became one then complained because you were hunted and you all knew that it would happen. No matter what you say there kitten you are wrong. You are stuck up just like 90% of the jedi out there. You want it easy. Well now you got easy. Now you got your lame butt jedi in the NGE. I have played the BH in the TC and we are still a good prof. I tried jedi and let me tell you.......HAHAHA serves you all right for all the moaning. You think it was just us that hated you? Go to every profession thread and look up jedi. Everyone hated you because you all cried like babies. You all complained because we could take the same persons missions and they changed that and you found something else. You hunted in places you could not even be attacked in and went AFK. Not all mind you but where do you think alot of our paddy kills came from.....that is righ Kash. You all found exploits and used them. We did not. We were smart. We waited, watched, stalked. Then when you were nearly out of force and nearly dead from fighting we would pounce. That is the mark of a good Bounty Hunter. Knowing your prey and waiting for them to be weak before you strike. Maybe you call it underhanded. I called it ......My Job
What if auto insurance companies took on this "you chose this so you deserve that" mentallities.
You get into an accident, and when you file a claim, your insurance company tells you, "You knew full well the risks of driving, and that you could get into an accident... therefore, it's all on you. DEal with it!"
And yet still continued to charge the monthly premiums from you.
Sorry if you took that phrase a bit too literally. I did not meant "you" as in "you, personally". I meant "you" the BH's who were eager to hunt Jedi and engage in forced pvp at all costs. Please let me know if there is anything else you didn't quite understand when you read it, I will be happy to explain it to you so that you can understand it better.
