Thread: Jedi are SUPPOSE to be rare right?
Let me point out something forjust a moment, if you will.
The quote that was stated by the devs or who ever that "jedi Will be rare" obviously had not an idea of growth and development. Sure as its intention, the concept was a nice thought. But growth happens in a game.
We can not stay in the first two months of the game for ever. History rolls forward. for some, it is a hard thing to handle, i suppose.
Timelines progress forward and continue to develop as is moves (regardless of weather we like it or not) i have no problem with it other then everyone complaining about one thing or another and the result of it being a reduction in power or ability.
If we were to stay in the "Timeline" Not only would there be only a few Jedi, but we wouldn't have many of the the things we do now.

You can be frustrated and disappointed but I think that saying "this is not supposed to be here" or "there is none of what have you during this period" is senseless. It won't get anyone anywhere, unfortunaltely.
As long as SOE meets their monthly cash quota that is all they are going to care about. More cash means SOE/SWG employees have job security, yearly raises etc.
The only way to constitute change is quit your accounts people. Don't renew. Me personally?, I stillenjoy the game but nowhere close to my prime addiction level. I went from 3 accounts to one. Am much happier for it and SOE lost 2/3 of my business....

The "Timeline" was set an a foundational point to begine this game nothing more. Think of the complaints we would have if it was set pre episond I or even during the first three episodes. The complaints would fly that there were no storm troopers or there wasn't a darth vader or emperor or luke (well maybe luke couldbe gone LMAO) j/k. But seriously. It was a starting point and we moved forward.
Not saying I agree with everything that was done. But we as teh SWG community need to make ammends withthe fact that timeline or the redundant repeating of "this is not in the timeline" willnot get anywhere but label you as a whiner.
I say adapt, and improvise and use what was given to us as best as we can. You can be frustrated and disappointed but I think that saying "this is not supposed to be here" or "there is none of what have you during this period" is senseless. It won't get anyone anywhere, unfortunaltely.
The problem is, 90% of Jedi - or those grinding to be one - say "let everyone have one," and the people that want to be able to compete (y'know, have the same fun you're having,) and NOT be a Jedi to keep in the spirit of Star Wars and the EU.
Yes, the game has moved forward. It's not a matter of "adapting," as you say. Everyone can adapt given enough time. It's a a matter of 2 things:
1) 1000s of Jedi running around have nothing to do with the trilogy or it's EU. If we're not in the current "timeline," why in the hell are we going on a scavenger hunt for the recently destroyed death star parts? Nothing the devs have said or written indicated that we've moved beyond a short period of time since "Star Wars," nor have they said we've back/forward in time, either. We are where we are. Please, don't use any "Back to the Future" logic to explain it away.
2) There is ZERO game balance when there is one alpha class, which can currently be opened and grinded rather easily - I'm not saying QUICKLY, just that's it's really, really damned easy to grind a Jedi from Padawan these days -it'sjust anothergrind.
If they suddenly brought back permadeath, would you say "I'll adapt?" I'm NOT asking whether they'd bring it back or not - I'm asking if you (and your Jedi peers) would ADAPT to the re-introduction of permadeath.
Highly, highly doubtful.
It's an alpha class, and must be balanced.

But look at ROTW, and other things. this game is not stuckon a time line. it was purley foundational and does it not say "create your own starwars universe" somewhere? Back to the future logic? heh, okay if you say so.
ROTW is completely in line with the Star Wars universe as canon and EU, which this game is based upon. The occupation, the Imperial Slavery - all of it. Hell, Chewie owes Solo a life-debt for rescuing him from slavery (and losing his commision in the Empire by doing so.) ROTW is within the Star Wars universe - hands down.
"Back to the Future" logic - saying that homehow for some unknown reason we're back in time to episode four from episode 6, but this time we're going down a different path in an alternate timeline. Should the Empire win this one? Should the next expansion be called "The Rebel Alliance Strikes Back?" Face it, we're living in the timeframe between 4 & 5, and within the parameters of both canon and EU.

Sure I would adapt to it. I have been playing over 2 years now. a permadeath change, while i feel it is wrong, would not make me quit doing what i have been. think of allthe changes we have been through over thepast 2 years. Of course i would adapt.
Maybe you missed the highlighted phrase. Go make a post on the Jedi forum about the re-introduction of permadeath. See how many of your peers would "adapt" to even the THOUGHT of it. I didn't say you, I said you and your peers - the Jedi community.
Highly, highly doubtful.
Wrong.
I love it when people write "wrong." "Arguing on the Internet is like competing in the Special Olypmics - even if you win, you're still retarted." See my previous statement about you AND your peers.
It's an alpha class, and must be balanced.
That i most certainly agree with you on.
If there is balance between all combat profession in the game (which is currently the state, with the exception of Jedi and a few minor bugs,) there would be no argument from me or anyone else about the alpha issue.
The fact that there are too many, yes, but not the balance issue.
When I watch the commercials, they talk about immersion in the Star Wars Galaxy. You know what I want? I want a toggle in the ctrl-o screen to switch Jedi on&off. If Jedi is "off," I don't see you, I don't hear you, you're all automatically on the /ignore list, II get removed from groups if you're in one, and anything else under the sun to not deal with Jedi.
Of course, the easiest step is to create a few servers that have the initial rules for Jedi. Sadly, it likely won't happen, as a huge percentage of the playerbase would move to these servers. I wouldn't mind leaving my server and letting all the kids play with their glow sticks at the starports.
Bah. SW is NOT about Jedi. If you think it is, you're missing the whole point of the fantasy.

Anyway, I am sure alot of you already know this, so let me get to the point. Since jedi are so rare, why not give us something rare...mandalorian armor. I mean you have 100s of jedi, why not having 100s of people in mandalorian armor?
thats an old argument.. doesnt count anymore since removal of permadeath. This is JEDI GALAXY WARS now.. live with it .. grind for one.. enjoy the jedi vs jedi pvp cause that is seriously fun...
Seriously, that statement made me shiver...

NO FREE MANDALORIAN ARMOR!
THIS GAME HAS BEEN MESSED UP ENOUGH BY TOO MANY JEDI AND JEDI HAVE NOW LOST THEIR "AWESOMENESS". DON'T DO THE SAME WITH MANDALORIAN ARMOR. IT'S TOO COOL TO RUIN!
Damn, I totally forgot what this thread was about after that first page of flaming.
I agree. Don't give every BH Mandolorian armor too easily. In fact, I'd rather not see most players getting a full suit at all (some have already.) It seems the helmet is most popular - see that quite often.
I see too many Jedi at the starports.I really would rather not see the same amount of BHs trying to look like a Fett, too.

Not sure, but...isn't this game based off the movies or eu or both?...not sure.
Kinda there own version of it. figure this. It started out as what I knew as Star Wars. Now 2 yrs later its just a game with Starwars in the name.
