well i've not had much luck with duelist stance in pvp, so im gonna go out on a limb here and say that its mostly effective in pvE. Usually, ill hit DS right b4 i start my attack, that way it has time to charge up b4 i attack my mark

I always use DS, why wouldnt you want +250 defense, i mean seriously, why wouldnt you want that?

ppl make different claims about duelist stance and whether it works for melee def or not etc... But I always find it useful to use it when the Jedi roots me and closes in on me.

Can't speak much for pvp since I'm not too experienced on that but, it's effective on pve...you could try running a macro for it.

something along the lines of:

/dueliststance;

/pause 29;

/macro ds;(where ds is the name of the macro)

It lets you maintain the duelist stance pretty much indefinately during a fight.

As for the effectiveness, next time you hunt an npc(providing you don't have an elite mark) don't use the ds and let him incap you...take note of the combat log......then use the ds and fight him..compare the results.

dont mean to hijack this thread but my duel stance macro looks like

/dueliststance;

/pause 23;

/tell <name> Duel Stance Reactivating in 3

/pause 3;

/macro stance

is there any way to show a message on screen without the annoying /tell and beeping noise?

thanks

none that I know of,...it's why I quit using the alarm on my ds.....now I just try to judge the timing as to when to stop.

I beleive you can use /echo, which if I remember rightly brings the message up on your screen like the squad leader messages appear (could be wrong however

I always try to keep DS going in melee or ranged. Nothing better than seeing that "return fire" come up.

This is pretty strait forward, i just want to know what your feelings are about duelist stance and what your strategy is whenhunting npc and jedi targets.

npcs its very nice, against jedi their damage range on their sabers just makes it not worth the mind and action it costs to start.
