do it! I suck at pvp, but if this does go through they would have to take out player bounties. I for one would devote my time to destroying newbs in a 3 minuite fight. why? maybe I am an a-hole like that. or maybe I would want them to learn quickly that they chose something that can hinder their experience. or maybe still I just want the millions of creds for the kills. too many negatives if they do this. they would have to start them out at cl 80 because lets face it. a cl 1 would cancel in an hour, and even if they start them at 80 they will still not be much of a challenge since they will only have a couple basic swings/protections. and if they do allow it then most likely player bounties are out. I don't really do them that often, and I would PO'ed if that happened.

If the Jedi starter profession turns out to be the strongest template (ora component of the strongest template), then everyone will be one - just like everyone is a MBH/MCM/ 0004 pist or rifles or SL.

Are you really that dense?

I'm making the point that even me, someone who is not into such things, believes this to be true.

You know, I really wouldn't mind jedi being a starting profession. It's basically nerfed to equality with other profs now, so what would be the difference? Sure it would piss off the jedi who worked hard and long (and long and long and long) to get their jedi, but they would be compensated with the second character slot. Keep jedi the way it is, take them off the terms. Reinstate the FRS as an option for advanced play. Once you enter into the FRS, you start gaining visibility and are able to be hunted. The FRS should grant bonuses based on ranks until at Jedi Master it takes a team of 5 players to kill you (getting to master shouldn't be easy or quick). Of course you would need to put names back on the terminals. This is all incumbent on a Fight Club proof FRS (how that would be implemented is beyond me).

you know I'd probably roll a jedi toon. I don't hate on jedi. If you want to be one fine, just don't complain about getting hunted. Some of us joined this game when there was no such thing as jedi and enjoyed it then.

Part of the reason I don't currently have one is because they are powerful (yes yes I know they've been nerfed in pvp, I'm not trying to argue this). I'm the kind of guy that roots for the underdog--likes a challenge. Hell I'm a Cyclone fan, I must be a masochist. I like having 3 toolbars full of food, weapons, specials, macros, that I cycle thru during combat. During all my encounters with jedi (admittedly, not a TON, maybe 40 -50), I haven't seen much variety in strategy. It's armorbreak--saberthrow--then whatever, in a neverending cycle, with heals thrown in. I'm quite disappointed that I have't fought a powers jedi yet

oh yeah, and a little rant while I'm here: I'm tired of hearing about how expensive being a jedi is. A good adk'd weapon and good adk'd ab-sliced armor can now run upwards of 90mil. And it's not as easy for non-jedi to farm the phat lewt to sell to the armorsmiths.

Why do you post this crap on the Bounty Hunter Forums? Try your own server you may get a better discussion.

You haven't heard? Lawl

As we have seen, Jedi is gradually being nerfed and will at some point be a starting profession.

SOE recieved a massive ammount of feedback from people cancelling that jedi took too long and they got bored and cancelled.

This would also remove the alpha class problem.

Last but CERTAINLY not least...think of the $$$ SOE would make.

SOE is a business and a business exists to make money.

Bling bling.

(some vets would quit, most would not, and a large influx of new players would buy the game)

A server / game with just one profession would quickly die out fast. Yes intially those who did not wish to partake in the grind will help with the populace but weeks following that server would grow old very fast and quickly die out.

One profession will kill an online game.

Who said there is going to be "one" profession?

I said jedi will bea starting profession. Not "the" or "the only" profession.

See.... I'm a purist. I don't hate Jedi. Actually, I think they are GREAT! I hate the fact that there are so many IN THE TIME PERIOD the game is currently in. This is an old argument but very valid to me. I follow the movies, and comics, books, and games. Yes, I am a Star Wars fanatic, and it pisses me off to see so many Jedi, brashly dueling in Theed, or waiting for the Necrosis to spawn, etc. Remember there are only a handful of known Jedi and padawans alive at this point. The rest are in hiding or non-existant.

But, I can sit back and suspend that annoyance to a degree. I can still have fun in the game, and I don't think nerfing the Jedi into a starting profession is the right move here. It gives players something to work for. Something to "conquer" so to speak. I've never wanted a Jedi for the above reason, and I'm still on the fence with it. Though lately, I'm at the point where I still like playing the game and being social with my friends, but I'm getting bored with the game itself. I've quested all the quests, looted all the loot, and mastered the professions I am interested in.

To me, Jedi is the next logical step in the progession of my gaming experience. But I'm hesitant to make the commitment to do it given that I dont' really want to add to an already out of control "problem" as I see. Also, I'm thinking of taking on Jedi because I love PvP. And being in a primarily Jedi PvP guild, I am often disadvantaged in a fight because they are "looking out for me" or worrying about whether I am doing ok or not. Were I another Jedi it would free them up to keep the offense up, instead of defense of me.

So... I still haven't decided yet. I'm going to see what Mustafar is all about and reconsider everything in about a month or so. I think it'd be fun to get hunted by you guys. From what I can tell, we're all pretty decent players, just trying to have a good time!

I used to be like you bmill, a purist. I hated jedi, hated the break in timeline, hated the Starport dueling leet speaking saber weilders. I was known to slag off ALL jedi in guild chat constantly. But over time (and lack of content mostly) I started to visit the village on and off just for something to do. Then double xp came along and it seemed like a 5 day investment to finish off the rest of my fs xp seemed reasonable so I did it. I got my phases done, did my paddy trials and weilded my saber for the first time (alone in my house btw, and I've never been seen with it "in public" at all). 10 days ago I cancelled my sub cos I am just so utterly bored and disillusioned with the whole game simply due to the status of my jedi.

I can't help wondering every day that if I'd stayed with Tailor/Pistoleer, or changed to CH or Ranger (profs I really enjoyed) if I'd still be playing now and oblivious to the nightmare of having a jedi which made me hate the game and quit.

My 2 cents, stick to what you're doing now if you enjoy it.. the journey to jedi is only rewarded with aggravation and disappointment.

yep, had 2 jedi chars since Launch.

and 6 BHs which 1 I have respecced from TKM to BH.

and yes, my jedi chars have not been full template....just wanted the extra slot.

I do think that jedi should be a starting prof or something like that or at least not a massive grind with XP loss.

I just think what's good for the game OVERALL.

not from a BH perspective, not from a jedi perspective.

but where do you see PVP?

allmost nowhere

base raids?

allmost nowhere

GCW?

most people have never heard of it

Artisan professions?

don't need them, only need clothes witch CA's

where is everyone?

grinding, grinding grinding for jedi XP or FS XP.

newbs come into the game: ask "what is the strongest profession? A: jedi....Q: how DO I get that?

after the answer it's badge grinding, a profession and off we go to the Village.

THAT's what's wrong with the game.

So I don;t feel like they should remove jedi, but rebalance them.

Alpha classes do not work in games.

that way you'll get 99% grinding that class.

and a dead game...simple as that.

Most people bought the game to play Star Wars, these days you buy the game to play Jedi...that's the difference.
