Thread: Regarding the Jedi being a starting profession rumor
*2 cents deposited*
If the Jedi starter profession turns out to be the strongest template (ora component of the strongest template), then everyone will be one - just like everyone is a MBH/MCM/ 0004 pist or rifles or SL.
This is exactly what you are doing.....rhetoric 101

I'm not big on conspriacies and rumor mongering at all...but this seems like it is too obvious and a logical step for SOE to take.

Are you really that dense?
I'm making the point that even me, someone who is not into such things, believes this to be true.

Starting profession? Riiigghhhttt...That would be like the rumor that they will make Master Musician an Alpha Class profession with a one-shot kill anything button.
Why do you post this crap on the Bounty Hunter Forums? Try your own server you may get a better discussion.
You haven't heard? Lawl
As we have seen, Jedi is gradually being nerfed and will at some point be a starting profession.
SOE recieved a massive ammount of feedback from people cancelling that jedi took too long and they got bored and cancelled.
This would also remove the alpha class problem.
Last but CERTAINLY not least...think of the $$$ SOE would make.
SOE is a business and a business exists to make money.
Bling bling.
(some vets would quit, most would not, and a large influx of new players would buy the game)

A server / game with just one profession would quickly die out fast. Yes intially those who did not wish to partake in the grind will help with the populace but weeks following that server would grow old very fast and quickly die out.
One profession will kill an online game.
Who said there is going to be "one" profession?
I said jedi will bea starting profession. Not "the" or "the only" profession.
Yay.

See.... I'm a purist. I don't hate Jedi. Actually, I think they are GREAT! I hate the fact that there are so many IN THE TIME PERIOD the game is currently in. This is an old argument but very valid to me. I follow the movies, and comics, books, and games. Yes, I am a Star Wars fanatic, and it pisses me off to see so many Jedi, brashly dueling in Theed, or waiting for the Necrosis to spawn, etc. Remember there are only a handful of known Jedi and padawans alive at this point. The rest are in hiding or non-existant.
But, I can sit back and suspend that annoyance to a degree. I can still have fun in the game, and I don't think nerfing the Jedi into a starting profession is the right move here. It gives players something to work for. Something to "conquer" so to speak. I've never wanted a Jedi for the above reason, and I'm still on the fence with it. Though lately, I'm at the point where I still like playing the game and being social with my friends, but I'm getting bored with the game itself. I've quested all the quests, looted all the loot, and mastered the professions I am interested in.
To me, Jedi is the next logical step in the progession of my gaming experience. But I'm hesitant to make the commitment to do it given that I dont' really want to add to an already out of control "problem" as I see. Also, I'm thinking of taking on Jedi because I love PvP. And being in a primarily Jedi PvP guild, I am often disadvantaged in a fight because they are "looking out for me" or worrying about whether I am doing ok or not. Were I another Jedi it would free them up to keep the offense up, instead of defense of me.
So... I still haven't decided yet. I'm going to see what Mustafar is all about and reconsider everything in about a month or so. I think it'd be fun to get hunted by you guys. From what I can tell, we're all pretty decent players, just trying to have a good time!
I used to be like you bmill, a purist. I hated jedi, hated the break in timeline, hated the Starport dueling leet speaking saber weilders. I was known to slag off ALL jedi in guild chat constantly. But over time (and lack of content mostly) I started to visit the village on and off just for something to do. Then double xp came along and it seemed like a 5 day investment to finish off the rest of my fs xp seemed reasonable so I did it. I got my phases done, did my paddy trials and weilded my saber for the first time (alone in my house btw, and I've never been seen with it "in public" at all). 10 days ago I cancelled my sub cos I am just so utterly bored and disillusioned with the whole game simply due to the status of my jedi.
I can't help wondering every day that if I'd stayed with Tailor/Pistoleer, or changed to CH or Ranger (profs I really enjoyed) if I'd still be playing now and oblivious to the nightmare of having a jedi which made me hate the game and quit.
My 2 cents, stick to what you're doing now if you enjoy it.. the journey to jedi is only rewarded with aggravation and disappointment.
