I have been playing a bounty hunter since you had to walk to get there. Yet I still have some novice BH toons as I am making BH's on multiple galaxies. Sometimes you get too well known or just want a change of pace. Each server has a different "environment" for which to hunt.

OK, I sleep at night in the belief that all these folks who are JUST now going into BH are doing it because they have JUST entered the game. I really hope they are not of the caliber we would call FOTM. I dont know why but it irratates me to no end to have folks join just because "its cool" where are all the dedicated "stick it out" good or bad.

/sigh

Silvarran - No one is assuming anything. If you were an MBH youll have the badges to show it. In fact I have only the Master Scout/marksman ( the old req )/ and MBH badges.

Gallandro - I agree I DO play BH because "its cool". My irritation comes from those that find that "its cool" because it looks like it will become what it SHOULD have been a long time ago. That they didn't bother to support us then, that they didn't bother to "stick it out", and that because "its cool" now decide to be BH.

That puts a great example to mind. Ever seen a losing sports team that nobody wanted to support? That when they started winning the "fair weather fan" suddenly becomes their biggest fan? Well, here we are and I see alot of "Fair Weather BH" popping up from the muck. THATS what irritates me!

I can see where you're coming from Ionscout, but I can just as easily see another perspective of "I'm paying to enjoy myself so while BH has always looked like a cool profession, it was broke and therefore why would I play it?"

Now that it is being "fixed"more people that thought BH was cool when they bought the game will play it because it works - it's human nature. People that payed to be miserable and complain about a broken profession all this time have my respect for sheer stubborness (also human nature), but I certainly can't fault people for not wanting to pay to play a broken profession.

I kinda felt the same way you do initially, but now I just look at it as more people to hunt down the Jedi vermin. Some will be successful and some will not - that is what separates good BH's from bad ones imo....attitudes and maturity not withstanding of course.

I have been working on MBH now for about a month. I have played this game for about 8 months now. If the new players come into the game, they have every right to play whatever profession they want to play. If BH is one of those professions, they have a right to play that profession. Just because they did not start the game a year ago, does not mean they do not deserve the respect that EVERY player starting the game will deserve. Thats not to mention those players who have been in the game for awhile and did NOT want to play a broken profession. Now the BH is being "fixed", which really, time will tell, they want to give us a try. Thats fine, let them give us a try.

bh = very cool

bh = added content in jedi hunting

bh + pistol/carb/rifle = holds it own at pvp and is fun

bh = new weapons, the new pistols look pro

+ more

bh is a wicked prof and opens a lot more avenues, why shouldnt it be the flavour of the month, its exciting. and i think thats why more people are doing it.

thats why i started it months ago, still not master bh tho, 0444 with 2.5k invest xp, i only go a couple of invest missions a day , and doss about for the rest either pvping or trying to find skill tapes, as bh needs defence skill tapes. !!!

Isn't because "it's cool" the absolute best reason? I mean, that's why we play games, right? To have fun.

The idea that you should have to suffer in some way in your entertainment is just weird to me.
It's entertainment. I personally can't think of a single better reason to play a bounty hunter than the "it's cool" reason.

I've been grinding toward BH since the day I got the game. I'll be a bounty hunter to the very end. But, to be honest, the reason I'm playing a BH is because I think it's pretty friggin cool.

i believe what he means by "it's cool" is that some of these new people may be getting BH b/c they believe it will be the new FOTM post CU. i would say i agree with the original poster, i don't like the idea of people taking up a template (wither they like it or not) just so they can be the Uber in PvP, we have all seen many ranged BH take the path of TK even though they don't like it just so they can kill jedi.

if this large influx of new BH are doing it b/c they really like the idea of hunting bounties and other players then good for them, the more the merrier. if they are doing it just to be great at PvP even if they don't like ranged combat or if they will never hunt a bounty i say no. look at most of us die hard ranged BH, we may not be the greatest at PvP because others have been given uber defences, etc. but we stick with it b/c we really like it.

Yeah I gotta say, Its FOTM on Ahazi right now, so many BH around.

I have a feeling once the TKM/BH/Medic temp is nerfed I can see a lot of them giving it up, They all view it as easy money.

Not really. I got BH to grind up some FS points and not worry about the nade game. I can grind 900K in weapon XP in a two buff sessions contrary to the expensive nade trick. SoI convert every 2 to 3 days once I cap combat. Don't get me wrong my alt is a MWS and makes high end grenades and occasional creates of c12. I also enjoy the hunting part that you get from scout. It provides an interesting feature to PvE and still affords me the ability to earn credit from needed meat and hide. The jedi hunting is ok, can be profitable but requires a lot of patience and quick tracking ability. At present I dabble lightly just to test my skills. This part of the game is pretty much broken in that jedi want to be invulnerable and bh want to be bust the door down mercenaries. As for the CURB changes the first document looks like a WoW clone that will ruin the game in my view. I would prefer that we don't have wind ups, interrrupts, and cool downs. Combat should be quick and decisive. If it is protracted then all the more tactical. That means two opponents came prepared. Just my two cents worth, give it no stars or all stars. WGAF?
