What "snare"....what is the attack special called and from what class?

The reason why it is a problem is because it, if use properly, is basically an I win button for ranged. Previously, every jedi would have a means of dealing with this, either through burst run, root, stasis, force run, or powers. Now stasis misses more than ever, burst run and force run is canceled by ANY snare attack, it doesn't matter which one. The only thing we have left is root, which basically means we have about 10 seconds to try and run, which most bounty hunters will follow up immediately with their own root.


The problem is not that they can't win, which most jedi can't now, as they can't get into range, the problem is that they can't even run. Force run, which is the a major part of the entire enhancer tree, is completely useless when paired up against a Combat medics 2 minute snare. This isn't just a jedi vs BHer issue, ranged VS melee in general is a joke, as they can't use burst run to close the distance.


Then to top this all off, on my server there have been some smart little bounty hunters who thought it would be good for a laugh if they had a squad leader come along with them and buff them before they attack so they deal almost double damage with a chance for critical hits on every shot. Jedi just can't compete, and for an alpha class, this is not acceptable. We are as weak as a dancer in the face of this. Might as well go and declare a master armorsmith, cause it ends basically the same way.

If you PvP vs. melee characters, and that's what you set up to do, why would you even need CM 4000, if you can keep them at range?


I know of some Bounty Hunters who don't even wear armor after Publish 24... they don't need to, because all they do is Jedi missions, so they save the armor for when they pull an NPC mission or go PvE.


Ruby Bliel and Stim-D's seem tobe enoughhealing for them.


And since BH has a KD shot, you only need Carbineer/Pistoleer or Rifleman/Pistoleer in order to be able to completely negate all melee professions.


If you know how to kite effectively, you can stay well beyond 32 meters and *never* get hit evenonce by a Jedi, no matter what abilities the Jedi has.


And *that* is the problem. We predicted it would happen on Test Center Beta, we predicted it would happen on Test Center, and now it's playing out in Live just as predicted.

what people arent reaslizing is that jedi arent an alpha class atm .... as of now you are a beta class like all the rest of us ......things will be completley different when frs comes back oh boy will they change higher CL higher ham values along with those lvls and along with lvl comes resists things will change you'll see then the bh's will be crying once agian .... for the record i play jedi and bh so i see both sides of the story ..... also rancor aid = snare imunity /owned

Ibfoofoo, if this were real life, of course you would be right. Don't bring a knife to a gun fight. Remember the famous Indiana Jones scene ...


But this is not real life, it is SWG. And in SWG, if you want combat to be balancedyou have to give all combat professions a chance to win a fight.


If a ranged profession can simply snare, kite and win, then this is not balance. So you then have two choices:


1. You can be "realistic", in which case everyone will choose a ranged profession. Except jedi. You have to then re-introduce saber block so that, like in the films and books, jedi can block incoming ranged fire. Simply because the books and films show that jedi do not automatically die when attacked from afar.


2. However "unrealistic" it may be, you invent a system for SWG that allows melee professions to have an equal chance against ranged professions, in order to provide more variety in combat (after all, it's a game, not real life).


At the moment, it is option 2 that has been chosen, and it is therefore true and fair to state that the current situation is unbalanced.

Following is the reason for the complains, tested it out yesterday.



I was in my house chatting, as an BH reached up.


Im getting out of my house to fight them, like i allways do. I will post later the name of the bh, i have to login my jedichar, so you cann tell the bh and he will proof my story.



First she was applying electrolyte drain to me, i could eat rancor aid, because stomach full. I, as an Master Defender startet my defenses, so she coulnd hurt me, but i wasnt able to get in range, 5 meters, to hit her witk my ls, i only could use saberthrow, im not a mls, so i did only around 200 damage per hit. I constantly gets hitten fir 500-700 points of damage. electrolyte drain runs out, she was applying kneecap shot, so i still could get in range, if kneecap shot runs or i was kd or she reaplied electrolyte drain, this was one of the rare situiations i could use saber throw, 32 meters range, normally she was around 40 meters away, out of range for all attacks that a jkedi had, because stasis ( i havent it) forece supression or all ranged attacks of the jedi have only 32 meters range. ive chased her 1300 meters, had to use my health crystall and one holocron to fill up my force. the game goes on, i was able get 5 times in range, as i was able to snare her 2 times, in this times, do to speed debuffs i only could hit her 5 times, she had an ab sliced armor, so my strongest attack, power hit, does only around 400 damage to her. after 20 minutes or so, remind, i could only hit her 5 - 10 times in 20 minutes, i gave up, forcebar empty. she didnt db me, we talked awhile, jolene, an friend of mine was eyewitness. she told me that she killed some jedi since pib24 without getting hit.



This IS a serious inbalancing.



And remind fellow BH, if no Jedi or other Melee Profession wont get any chance to win a fight, she wont fight anymore, will leave the game or just dont log in her Jedi, so YOUR content is gone.
