Thread: A new Perma-death Idea (BH vs. Jedi)

So basically, your proposal is that only full-template Jedi (the most powerful characters in the game 1v1) are the only Jedi that hit the perma-death terms - the fight HAS to be 1v1 asevidenced by only 1 BH being able to get the mission - and then he is suppose to risk his not 1.5x stronger than a regular profession character in a 1v1 duel against an opponent who is the strongest possible character in a 1 on 1 fight only to die permanently when he loses?


That seems balanced to you?

Yes, that is what im telling you. 1st off, i never said THIS WAS BALANCED. I said THIS WAS AN IDEA. I left it up to you guys to help me "balance" this idea. Also...i have killed many full temp jedi wtih my MBH, as well as other BHs. So it is MORE than a fair fight. ( I have also been slaughtered by some full temp jedi) You just have to know how to play your character. Also, i clearly stated that you dont HAVE TO take these missions if you dont want to...so if you are a BH, you dont have to risk losing ur character if you dont want to.


This idea was simply to add new content to the game and to allow for a certain respect level for certain character to obtain.

I think that "blue glowy" idea is very interesting that the tanks came up with

Soulcaster, I edited my response in the Jedi forum. I'd like to commend the fact that you say permadeath should go both directions. I just doubt the Jedi/BH community would support it. IMHO, the Devs screwed it up and the Devs need to fix it. Instead of Jedi flaming BH'ers and BHers flaming Jedi, Jedi AND BH'ers should be putting pressure on the Devs instead of each other.


Why should I flame if I lose exp because a BH killed me? The Dev's setup the system and screwed up attacks/specials/and such, not the BH. Why should I stay and fight? I get nothing if I win and get severly smacked if I lose. So BH'ers shouldn't flame us if we run, flame the Dev's for introducing an unbalanced system that only rewards on one side.


The "risk vs reward" in the BH/Jedi system is severly out of whack. Thats why Jedi don't want to fight. Thats why we rather go about our business. With the new CM changes/Snare changes and such coming down the pipe it's only going to get worse. Personally, I try to avoid visibility like the plague and if I see an unknown dot on the radar I FR and Cloak. Better to run than have to grind for an extra hour or two.


Good job on trying to come up with a two-sided system, but permadeath is just another way of the system hurting players.

IMHO, one of the best ideas I had heard in regards to resolving this issue. Hats off to Tanks on that for sure. Unfortunately it seems Coorespondents (who can't change or implement anything) have better ideas than Dev's (who change and implement everything... poorly at that.)

perma-death will never come back in any way shap or form, becaus eof legal issues. if you dont believe me, pm soterios, he'll tell ya.

Let's entertain the notion for a moment though....


If it WERE to happen, it would have to be voluntary on BOTH sides. The Jedi would have to flip a setting in their control panel, or talk to a Jedi npc or something like that to sign on for something like this. They would have need to have the ability to sign off something like this too.


I think it's an interesting approach though.... I like the idea of having myself as a Bounty Hunter accountable for losing a mission against a Jedi.

finally someone who likes the idea REGUARDLESS if perma-death will ever come back.


I like your "toggle on permadeath" Idea. DIABLO was like that as well. When you wanted to PvP you had to cross the swords or soemthing like that in the little combat box. To let everyone know u were in hostile mode. Thats not a bad idea.


And as i posted in the Jedi forum side of this idea, that maybe a sytem message would appear letting the Jedi know he is now in danger of perma death as he would get a system message saying "Another player has taken a mission against you and you are now being hunted" or something like that.


This still would give BH 1st strike capapbility as the jedi wouldn't know WHO is after him...but it would make both characters now they are can lose their characters. because the BH of course knows this once he accepts the misison, and the jedi knows it when he gets the system message then.

if you want perma-death just delete your char if you die, thats all....

in blizzard's game you can see perma death only in diablo2 not in others. they know it too, is not good. client crash, huge lag, connection lost, exploited enemy player, etc.

Perma-death is just lame...there might be too many glow stick wavers running around, but this is just...well, plain retarded.

Bad idea.


BH gets to chose who and whena player has to risk the loss of a character that cost mega grinding to get.
