I'm new to the Chef profession and was wondering if anyone here had any pointers on what I should do to get started.

Deko is absolutely right, and not being mean. The FAQ will answer 99% of all new chef questions in an easy to read format.
If you have a specific question later, AFTER you read it.....please feel free to ask. We are glad to help.

Info: Just started playing again after leaving last October.
...and still the Smuggler community remains the same: The greatest bunch of people SWG has. AND, it amazes me that nothing has really changed with the profession since I left a year ago.Sure I've been scanned a few times but nothing has really happened.
So just wanted to say hello and let you all you know I'm with you all again in the fight against the tyranny of the DEVs and their unadmitted prejudice against this profession.

Yea well I just got novice droid engineer last night after many many hours of making different objects. Mostly wind survey devices using no macro's at all. Damn I didn't know about macros grr..I just got the game 2 weeks ago.
Anyways just thought I would introduce myself, my name is Oosrik in game and I am a poor novice droid engineer just starting out. luckly my guild hooked me up with some harvesters but guess what, they forgot to supply any power and I have been stuck on lok with no cash, no buffs, with one mineral mining harvester, trying to make novicedroid engineer. gah. I come from the intrepid server so who here is my compitition? also if you can create a generic list of what prices you may offer off your vendors so that I charge the same thing without going lower this way we mantain a stable market. Maybe some of you can also tell some storys about expierences that I may run into. like how long did it take you, any good spots to harvest I do have the droid 101 printed so I will be using that as reference. and I have read the issues with medical droids and storage or the other problems. I would just like to meet some of the DE's on intrepid...maybe start a union or something to get one fair price across the galaxy if this hasn;t been done...
Thanks you for your time

Welcome to the DE profession.
Don't get discouraged. Many DEs here have seen hundreds of posts such as yours and simply (likely) count on someone else answering or that you'll end up reading the great guides and stickies available above.

You won't be able to get price controls or 'one fair price'. You can forget about that idea....it simply can't fly.

Hello, welcometo the profession, don't take people not posting personal. Sometimes people only have time to post on the threads they are already talknig on, then what happens is a thread gets pushed down and people miss them when they do have time.
DE is a lot of fun, hope you like it.

Sounds like you are off to a good start, printing out sections of the DE 101 guide and all.

Welcome aboard to the place many of us call home.
