Just out of interest... How did you manage to get a rifle over the damage cap and under the SAC cap ?

i came to my first mark that i couldn't kill last night. he didn't kill me - but i JUST could not kill this guy.

i'm a mbh/m-pistoleer....so i have a range problem (i'm in process of acquiring a lgood ightning rifle to help with this...).

the mark was over 36k health, a cl82, double gold mark...i'd shoot shoot shoot, heal/ruby/heal, then i'd have to root and run out of range so my action could regen some. i'd do this 2-3 times until the mark was just under 1/2 health - and then, the mark would RETREAT!

once that happened, its health would sky rocket upwards.

at that point my stomach is pretty much full - and i'd have to wait for it to empty before i tried again.

it seems the only way to do the really really hard marks is to get a line in rifles - or get a line in combat medic or doctor to increase the speed in which i can heal.

i really HATE the idea that i'd have to go the same route as practically everyone else and add medical skills to my template...but it seems like i'm going to have to, unless you all have any ideas.

The -retreat- thingy is a measure to keep people from training critters on other players or draw them into turrets to help killing them. They retreat if you kite them too far from their initial spawn point - if they get too far, they stop attacking and just retreat. While retreating, they have incredible health regen and are immune to any damage. To prevent it, kite in circles around the initial spawn point, not in a straight line away from that spawn point.

If the terrain prevents kiting in a circle just reverse direction 180 degrees. Kiting boss mobs doesnt really help that much. Kiting in circles works better on creatures that don't have ranged attacks, because with server lag or poor AI they never can intercept your path and you can kite all day.

the main thing is don't run farther than 65 meters from where the mark spawns and he won't retreat.

with a sac reduce powerup, ruby bliel, blob candy, pixie, and duelist stance macro running you should be ok.

of course if you drop the merchant for medic 0030 you will have no problem whatsoever

Your problem is not having any lines or not. You are MBH so can use rifles. If you don't hit a mark for a certain period of time they will retreat. If you do what you did and hit the mark from 65m witha rifle to keep him agroed you will be fine

ok..just read post more closely. WHY WOULD YOU KITE A RANGED NPC? Just stand there and use duelist stance. Why would you run? They are hitting you w/ a ranged weapon regardless if you move or not.

Why move away at all when you can make a simple macro for /attack ? If you Action ham is getting low, you can still shot the npc/animal/mark whatever while you wait on your action to come back up... No Sac pup needed, just common sense.

I was MBH/ MRM novice CM and was having trouble with the {{Yellow}} marks. Went MBH/TKM medic 0120 and do very well now.

He said he rooted and moved out of range to regen health and action - that means after the root broke the NPC was following him again, so it is kinda kiting, and kiting a mob too far away from his orginal spawn location triggers the -retreat- stuff.

My current template is Master Bounty Hunter/Master Rifleman/Novice Combat Medic/Artisan 0001. Dont have any trouble doing enough damage to kill the 32k+ gold elites. My rifles are both SAC capped and pup'd to 58 action cost, both are over 550 dps. Only time I get in trouble is when an NPC uses a kinetic weapon. Takes a while longer on these due to increased healing.

I ran into the first NPC I could not kill last night.... he was 35K HAM.

Part of the problem was the terrain... very hilly... and since I am a MBH and Master Rifleman... that does not help....

Heh the other problem was that I am still using my old Ubese Armor from when I was CL14 with 1.5K Kinetic and 3K Energy protect... and the pants are at zero condition LOL.

Even still I would have beat him if it wasnt for the terrain... I can heal with bacta shot for 1155 per but he eventually drained my mind pool...

I think if I were to meet that same fella with my 7K energy ubese armor.... it would have been a different story...

any master pistoleers out there with any ideas?

so far i've heard:

run in cirlces (something which i'll do now)

usea duelest stance macro (something i just got information on how to do)

try a cl10 pet to distract the mark (something i never thought of)

stand there and take it (something which will kill me with my current template)

use a rifle (something i could do...but with no where near the accuracy or speed i use a pistol at)

get some medical skills (something which it looks like i'm going to have to do)
