What server do you play on, I'll try and get on and see if I can help in anyway I can.

To be honest I'd also strongly suggest you pull your mind back, not focus on it so much. Seems to help for me

Check the condition of your weapon...As silly as it sounds I sat for 10 mins in a dog fight wondering why I was doing no damage and it was because my weapon cond was at 0% it fired and caused the enemy sheild to flash but now damage.....

this may be a stupid question too, but are you actually targeting the ships with 1 of your /target commands? if the answer is yes then all you have to do is aim for the green targeting recticle that leads your enemy, and find the right spot.

Ok..

Depending on the speed of your target.. there will be a distence between the target reticle and your ships reticle that you will need to "hit" to score damage. This assumes thay and you are turning, which is the typical situation, if you both are going straight... just fire dead on.. That distance your gonna have to get a feel for because I have no way of showing you pictorally on this board.. But do not just fire dead at the reticle.. it will most often cause you to miss completely except in certain circumstances.

As a test you could have someone disable a ship for you. Then position yourself about 50-100 away, stop, and shoot the ship. If you continue to not do any damage you have a real problem, or a zero condition weapon. If you do damage and destroy it, sounds like you just need to work on your targeting.

One more thing, if you are still in thebegginer's fighter and are shooting at targets a couple tiers above you, their shield will recharge faster than you can damage them with your pea-shooter. If that is the case, just be sure to stick with tier1 enemies.

Caliet posted my same very thought. I had the same issue as a noob pilot and it turned out I made 2 mistakes. 1 was not actually targeting the ship ahead of me and 2 was that I ended up going after Tier 2 and 3 ships once targeted and my initial "freebie" fighter lacked the punch to do much good. Throw in a not aiming in the general green recticle area and that makes for the symptoms you described

As others have mentioned, you should be shooting at the green target rectile not at the ship itself. However, you should not be actually hitting the green target. I've found that you have to come close to it but not hit it in order to hit and damage the ship. For example, if the ship your fighting is moving from your right to your left, you should shoot just to the right of the green target in order to hit. The distance to aim for from the target can be slightly different based on the speed of your enemy and how far away from it you are.

It definitely takes a bit of practice to learn where to aim.

Cancelled 7/27/05 - I joined to play Star Wars, not Jedi-BH Wars. You've ignored/gutted/abused just about every other profession in the game, while spending most of your time working on Jedi and BH as they related to Jedi. You've basically killed the game for anyone who doesn't want the glowstick. Congratulations.

By shield hits, what do you mean? the effect, or an actual drop in their % if you're hitting for a % then you simply need to get better at hitting more reliably and often and the ships will go down. If its a graphic effect only then its probable that you are suffering from some latency issues. Examine the info window as described above, try flying at a different time of day, try flying in a 2 seater or MP ship with someone. see if you can pin down when/how/why you're not doing damage.

I have pounded a disabled ship before to no avail, I have hit a ship with my lasers before but not to often. I can destroy ships just flying around but not the quest kills unfortunately. I am on Kauri and my name is telia there. I have a good ship with 100 percent made lasers that my master ship builder built so they are good. I can destroy ships with missles but I can not carry enough to kill three sets.

Thanks for all the help, I have stuff the work on.

When I first started I focused alot on gettin accurate hits. What I found after a couple ace encounters was that I had to spam them. Get a feel for their flight path and antisipate their next moves, then get a feel for how far ahead you have to lead the target. Once you have that down, spam them. Don't worry about landing every single shot, your weapons regenerate. Also, it might be helpfull to remap some of the keys for ship movement, most importantly for me, match speed, because you want to spam them and take out their shields before they can regenerate.

Another thing I forgot to add in an earlier post I did here.

Matching speed to target is very important too. Unless of course, target is faster than you and you are already at max speed. But oddly enough, dont assume anything. When I was a Pilot iniitate taking on Tier 2 and Tier 3 fighters, I always assumed the higher level meant that they were flying better quality engines than me and going faster than me. I had the roughest time zeroing in a shot on the small fighters. I tried to hit M once to match speed on what I thought was a particularly agile fighter....imagine my shock when the Tier 2 was going SLOWER than me and all of a sudden hits were scored better. Turns out he only looked agile and faster because I was going too fast and making it harder on myself.

If you have the monetary resources, I suggest getting a secondary game controller. I use the Belkin Nostromo n50 speedpad. The n52 is also out and once I burn this one up, I will upgrade. Baicallly, it's a controller for your left hand. I use it to pop hotkeys, roll (left/right spin), and throttle control. It has a d-pad like your Nintendo controller to handle roll/throttle. I got it a couple years ago to help me play EQ afer a shoulder surgery and never looked back. It goes very well with my joystick, I even have a hotkey on it to fire my missiles, freeing a button on my joystick for another key task.

Other than that, try adjusting your aim point between the reticle to closer to the nose of the target. I find that about 30% back from the reticle is the sweet spot for most pirate and rebel ships. TIEs can be a bit more or less depending on the tier of the target. Think of it as Kentucky windage for space gunnery.

decided to give DBL EXP week a try.
My template is pretty much 001/2 Saber, 1/1/0/0 Defender, Master TK, Dabbling in Medic.
Off I go, I'm lvl 59 so i take a 59 level mission. I use my focus crystal and take on a SINGLE lvl 59 critter, nothing special no specials, just a critter. I was at half life half force, it was at 3/4 life when I decided to get on my bike and run for the hills.
What am I doing wrong, I used Leg Sweep and the dizzy attack as well as Saber Hit, I couldn't barely touch it.
Whats the secret?
