XP loss is, lets face it not much of a forfiet for being killed by a BH or an opposing faction jedi. Perma death is the other extreme and is too harsh for the huge population of jedi player, so how about some middle ground.

Upon death from a BH or an opposing jedi (for knights) how about a 'cool down' period until the jedi can log the toon back on, something like 72 hours to a week, this way the non-jedi alt is activated so more regular profs...there is a tangible downside to getting killed so not so many blatant jedi running around...

Just my thought,

How about they remove all the penalties and just let us play the game how we want too. sounds fair to me. Lets all have fun FFS.

Everyone speaks of killing and caping the Jedi population. I for one am for permadeath because I hate the way dozens of Jedi just run a muck in Major Cities at any given moment. I can't stand MOST Jedi because of this (not all). It is the reason I became a Bounty Hunter in the first place. You never see Jedi conducting themselves this way in the movies. However, because I need Jedi to kill in order to make a living, I can't justify getting rid them completly. So, it has been said many times the following adjustments could improve the game.
Just give Jedi the ability to group without gaining visability. If a Jedi chooses to "show off" or duel in a Major City then not only do they end up on the terms, ALSO make them attackable by every player, creature, and NPC instantly for a period of time. This will let them grind in peace and it should keep them out of the Major Cities for the most part. At the very least I won't have to be subjected to all the "Fight Club" antics that has become a Jedi signature trait. The bottom line is, If they pop-a-glow stick in public (City TEF), they risk XP Debt.
Well...on second thought. Forget what I just said. The Emperor was right. Execute Order 66...bring back permadeath!

This is the logical equivalent of Mr. Toad's Wild ride.

1) Everyone wants Jedi population cap.
2) Jedi run amuck in major cities, therefore I want permadeath.
3) I kill Jedi for money, therefore I don't want permadeath.
4) Give Jedi ability to group without vis, therefore ??? (no real reason given for this)
5) Jedi who show off in public end up on terms and are attackable everyone, therefore (no reason here, either, other than general sentiment of "I hate jedi")
6) Bring back permadeath.

You know, you really don't even have to come to the boards for a discussion. I have a feeling all the voices in your head could have very fruitful conversations all by themselves.

hmmmm this is a tough subject as far as permadeath goes ....i agree it sucks to take away something a player has worked for , for so long ... but heres the thing .... jedi never quit ...they just sell their accounts ... when a BH quits he most likely ends his account and it gets deleted .. when any other non-jedi profession quits .. theyusually canceltheir accounts and get deleted .. but when a jedi quits he sells his account and someone else takes it over .. so the jedi population just grow and grow ... soon we may come to a point where ... the devs may have to rethink the situation ... if the jedi population get to 50% or more ... what does that mean for people who want to be different and not become jedi? ...

its difficult to figure out ....

you are correct there. but think about it though, how would you feel if you were a jedi and all the sudden got perma-deathed. no other profesion can get perma-deathed except for when they quit. i just think it needs to come down to everyone not wanting to conform and become a jedi. like me, i would never become a jedi. and not because i can't, but because most jedi running around now just turn the jedi name into a joke. i remember when i first started it was cool to see a jedi cause it didn't happen very often. now it's just annoying.

Hmm, don't remove visibility from group hunting, but remove visibility from hunting with other jedi from the same faction, cuz that's silly.

As for the showing off in major cities, if they pop a glowstick a timer should start and then Vader comes in boasting a CL500 tag and with some CL95 super troopers to teach em' a lesson.

It would be to funny to see Vader get creamed by an experiencedMaster Defender Jedi. Some Jedi already kill Combat Level 500 npcs. and CL 95 would be but an annoyance.

Oh this combat level stuff is lame. I wish they would just do away with it.

That is insane.NOBODY should be able to kill a level 500 by himself I don't care what the profession is.That should be a group effort. That is an extreme inbalance and is a major cause of problems all around in the game. But never mind. I'm sure someone in a certain professionwill come in here telling us how it takes skill to do that with a normal profession one vs one.

Could you imagine? At this point. If most Jedi were to stop playing. SWG would come to an end. You can deny it. But it's true. Jedi would wind up quitting. Bh's would be relegated to hunting npc's and eventually leave. Those who would like to be a jedi one day will have nothing to look forward to. The population of the game would decrease by half if not more. If you think Im just a self fulfilled player, it's just my opinion.

Eh...I have to disagree with this.

I am on a low-pop server, and can't find a group any time any day, like you can on Bria.

I am also over the age of 18 (won't say how far), and do not get 6-8 hrs of playing every day. One...just one...death to a BH wipes out about a week's worth of grinding to me.

Problem is, anything they do to fix Jedi issues like this on the high-pop servers pretty much kills the chances of grinding one in a reasonable amount of time on the low-pop servers.
