Thread: is this a good rifle for hunting jedi?

If you are MBH/MR..max damage is everything. Ive tested 2 rifles against a M.Def with full defenses up. One with 450-1183 and the other 520-1183. Both rifles did the SAME EXACT damage.

So to answer your question, find a rifle with capped damage, and then speed to bring your mod attack speed to around 1.5.

And yes, DPS is indeed pretty much meaningless.

is that speed modified? speed pupped?

i bet it is, and if so, that rifle is not worth a lot. you want as much damage as you can, DPS is meaningless.

Completely Agree. It's all about the hurt you can bring with each shot.

I disagree. I've noticed big differences in a real combat situation (as opposed to a test environment) between a weapon that has a speed of 1.4, and a weapon that has a speed of 1.0. DPS is not meaningless because it is a good measure of how quick your weapon is. I think when fighting Jedi speed is more important than damage.

It's the difference between theory and practice.

Edit: I wanted to add that speed is especially more important when you are fighting master defenders. It is better to fire off more lower damage shots than it is to fire off fewer higher damage shots. What good is a high damage shot if you don't get too many of them that stick?

It's difficult to see what dps means in real situations, certainly during short fights of say 15 to 30 seconds. I especially notice the difference in long fights lasting several minutes and where constant quick attacks are used to control a fight, thus keeping the enemy on the defensive. The rule I tend to go by is if a weapon has high sac, thenI prefer a high dps for standard ranged or melee attacks using minimal action. This therefore saves action for applying a special attack, say head shot to end a fight. A weapon with low sac obviously means you can apply slightlyhigher number of specials attacks and in this case dps is slightly less important because a fight is over within 30 seconds.

Yay, speed is key!

Lovely rifle btw
