Hi, i was wondering if anyone could help me figure out which combat prof would best fit master doctor?
i was thinking either master swordsman or tkm. Im a fencer now, its just that its not as uber as it used to be, so im looking for a new profession. Id like to thank everyone for their help in advance

Hi, I have recently decided to drop fencer - due to how weak it has gotten. Im currently on my way to master doc and wanted to know which combat profession would best support it.
i was thinking either mswords/doc or tkm/doc. Oh, and i am geared more towards pvp then pve.

Master swordsman is pretty great for PvP if you can afford it. It's a very expensive combat prof in general, if you want anything other than base hammers. Scythes can get very expensive as well. Basically, to pvp, youll either need to use a scythe (meaning you wont do a whole lot of damage, but you can still do fairly well), or you need to be speed capped and have nice acklay hammers (both pretty damn expensive, my latest cost me 6.75 million...)
But the speed capping thing isn't nearly as hard as it used to be. A great start is 0004 combat prowess, and after that you only need +6 or +8 in tapes to cap. (Can't remember, theres a post someplace about it on the swordsman boards). Once capped, with a nasty hammer, youll be very dangerous.

Yeah, it's been summed up pretty well. If you have the money (to speed cap), then Swordsman is nice. Since you can't do Master Brawler, you'll need +8 in skill tapes to cap (with a 9.1 hammer) with the FS Melee Speed tree. Also, Acklay bones and Hammers can get kind of expensive.
TKM's advantages are that it's pretty cheap and you can meditate away mind wounds (still need to see an Entertainer for the BF, so you're not fully independent). Also, in terms of defense it's a bit stronger (Toughness-wise) but both have pretty solid defenses.
For PvP both are awesome with Master Doc, just comes down to money really.

I was a Doc/TKM for long time and I do a fair bit of PvP. It's good if you 1:1 but beyond that TKM stinks in large groups. Here is why:
1. You get KD/dizzied easy.
2. Little range def so you get head shot to no end.
3. Every one has high end kin armor on and you cant really cut through it fast enough.
4. No one is going to just stand there while you hit them.
5. By the time you kd/dizzy someone and start hitting them someone else has head shot you to death.
6. You might think it would be good against Jedi but it is not. They simply kd/dizzy then your dead.
At least with swords you damage per sec will be better. As a doc you should be able to make the cash to buy what you need.
However, my advice is to go pikes. Here is why.
1. As a doc you dont want to be doing a lot of offense. You want to keep your team healed. With pike you can land a few dots then get back to healing.
2. With dots you can cut through armor.
3. You can land some dots on a Jedi (many fires) and then fall back and keep your team healed.
4. A high end damage pike does a nice work on Jedi.
If you plan to be a support guy then I would stay fencer or pick up pistols.

Im TKM/Master doc and love it, but as said earlier 1 on 1 is easy to handle but groups are harder. Which ever you pick look what def bonus's you get and make it around that.

Having done both MDoc/TKM and MDoc/MSw for a long time each, I can assure you that for both PvP and PvE, Swords will do you better. But as stated above, to be effective as a Swordsman in PvP you HAVE to be speed capped, that is not an option. I believe it's +95 you need to speed cap with a 5.9s Acklay PH [best on Shadowfire, not sure elsewhere]. If you pick up FS Melee Speed, that gives you +12 there, pick up the rest in tapes and you are golden. Hammahs are pretty spendy too, so it is a very expensive sport, but it is ALOT better than TKM for PvP in these days of super comp.
Swords are better in PvE than TKM as well when you are a Doc. The main draws of TKM over others [Meditation line] are mostly useless to a Doc. The restriction to Kin and AP1 prevent the TKM participating in alot of high end PvE, whereas the Swordsman has AP2 and Kin/Blast damage types.
EDIT: Forgot the most important factor in your decision... your own preference. Both are great professions with Doctor, and neither one will do you wrong. But judging by your first post, it sounds like you are looking for the one that is a step above the other, and I would have to turn that over to Swordsman.
