Thread: how can u kill a MDEF?

Heres a tactic....just act lik you do everyday while not hunting. When his group is on brake, (if in a group),you make sure he has no force enhancements and start shooting away. Then after you kill him (if lucky) you get ready for alot of hate tells from his groupies.


Ok point is...attack when they feel secure... mainly when: On the bazaar, in a crowded city, or hunting with other fellow jedi or whatever.

1. only attack if you have achieved complete and utter surprise.(meaning you can frontload a alot of damage) .


2. Only engage if the Jedi, in addition to being completely surprised, is not buffed or his force is down, or he is engaed by MOBS or creatures.


3. Add a duelist macro this will help alot as well and can put you on better footing, here is one I found on this forum:

/duelists;
/pause 26;
/alarmaddin 0 0 STOP, DUELIST!!
/pause 1;
/macro Duelist

how many times u gonner post that tony? hehe I know what most of u are saying, and i do all of them things u say pretend to be friends etc wait for the opertune moment. it just seems all of this in theory is great but, i feel we dont do enough damage against mdefs. the one where they guy used avoid incap we fighted for about 20 mins after and he must have been out or low in force because hes aura was gone but i stil was hitting for crap. ( i do use a ALR 1170 dmge with pup to 1340)


This was the ultimate example yesterday i find a jedi in theed in this building ive never seen before (the big palace one) at the back there is like a long thin bridge to a i cant think of the name for it but its like what peopel get married under outside.


Im under cover and for luck the bridge is about 60m long he cant see me and im just watching him, he has no states up no macros no defense even no sabre equiped, i think i got to get this one, i conceal shot (700) sniper shot (900) Crit (500) Under hand (150) hes on the floor hasnt healed yet but this thing hes on is a bit lower than me and suddenly i have no Los while hes on the floor he gets up instant macros all hes states charges me im in a tight place 30 sec later im dead. and aprently the jedi was with hes in game woman looking for a place to marry. poor girl


so i think we do enough damge if they leave there sabre at home

Its not about the saber, its about Force Aura and Jedi Innate Armor.

Any MDef has an armor rating of 7000 against all attacks.
Improved Force Aura gives +500 to defenses, meaning the damage you do will be close to the min damage of your weapon since you probably dont have 700+ accuracy to at least get the average of min and max damage. Therefore your 1.3k max dmg rifle with pup is pretty worthless against Force Aura if it has 400 min damage (which would be about 200 base damage after armor on the Jedi), you want a weapon with high min damage.

I prefer teh run and gun method... I just run up, paralyze, apply all states, then KD and run away while tossing DOTs, then try to outlast their minds or force

just now found one at bazzar meding nothing at all up i sniper him and it hits for 2400 -1800 then 2 secs later its all up and im runing and hes hitting me for 800 a hit when my crit hits for 300

You think thats annoying, try facing a Master Enhancer, I had his force almost gone and his health and he throws stasis on me and burst runs away. I can't do anything jus have to watch him run up to his house and go in oncecombathas gone.

One way to improve your damage output against Mdefs is to increase your accuracy. Eat some crispic (+40) and drink some pyro (+200). They will stack if eaten in that order. That should put you close to +500 ranged accuracy . Mdef's have a huge amount of defenses to the point that your shots will start using the minimum damage of your weapon for the calculation.There is a accuracy vs. defenses formula. I don't think anybody really knows what it is, but by increasing your accuracy to their level of defenses, you'll notice yourshots will do more damage. Its still going to be a long fight unless they have MLS and you dont have armor that's sliced for armor break. Also, keep the pyro on your toolbar cause it only lasts for a short time. I try to take a shot of it right before I perform a kd to get most I can outta the kd.


And look for thehigher min damage weapons. Sure a 966 max damage FWG looks great, but if its min is down around 300 it won't be nearly as nice against Mdefs.

don't listen to the people saying to out last the force pool rofl. A good Jedi will conserve force and the fight will last forever (that's assuming you don't get a Jedi with nice pearls/crystals).


Reason why your adv crit only hit for 300, your accuracy is lacking. The more Def the Jedi has over your accuracy the more your damage output scales to the min value. What is the min value of your weapon? I noticed you put the Max value but when you fight a Master Defender Jedi it's the min value that is golden.


As far as tactics, it's all about the accuracy. You must maintain the highest possible accuracy that you can get. I myself have +25 general accuracy as well as +24 rifle accuracy. Combined with MBH/MR my accuracy is 309 without any foods. Now combine with food (+215 ranged accuracy for 1 min), you get about 525 accuracy. You've just negated the Jedi's Aura. Now you have to find a way to negate his 200+ regular ranged Def mods. With that you will need the special advanced aim, this adds 240 accuracy for a limited time. Add it all together and you get over 750 Accuracy (for a limited time). In that time you have to find a way to incap the Jedi.


The tank professions are always hard to damage but you have to understand why you are doing little damage to begin with if you plan to defeat the Jedi. Getting the right equipment, food is so important when fighting these Jedi. Remember when the new BH scopes get fixed that will be an additional 60+ accuracy you can count towards your accuracy!

Your failure is due to your assumption that High max damage weapon = uber insane damage.


but your wrong. PvP is based more around your weapons Min damage. The min damage on that is what? 500? if not its not far off it. With the +230 defences and Force Aura up and running (a smart jedi will have this on all the time) your damage roles will be based upon your min damage of your weapon, not your max damage. This is also why Jedi hit a lot harder in pvp than non-jedi. Guns tend to have a wide damage range between min-max. Like 400-1000 would be a common stat on a rifle. Sabers dont, theres only about 90 points between min-max. 600-700 +220 elemental would be common stats on a nice saber. Straight off the bat thats 820 min damage with the elemental.


I'm not sure if the still exist post-cu, but if they do use some +min damage pups on your weapons. Ignore max damage


If you go into combat with the hope of outlasting their force, you'll probably Die. Any jedi thats worth his weight in PvP can conserve their force indefinitely. Outlasting their mind pool would be a more realistic aim. Either way dont expect a quick fight, An experienced BH against a Mdef jedi can last a long time

It's the new BH loot (from killing NPC marks) that can be used when making your ranged weapon. The Scopes I looted have -.74 speed with 64 accuracy. ATM they are bugged in that they turn your weapon to Energy (if the gun was supposed to be Kinetic) or to Blast (if the Gun was supposed to be Energy). Devs have said they are going to fix that in some later publish.

I have a 874-1542 puped HLR, force valor is the biggest pain in the butt, min damage means everything against these kinds of guys.
