whats the 0/0/0/1 TKA for? srry im not playing my game atm so i cant see its use.

If you are going to do Meditate in TKA it is more useful to get the entire tree.

You might as well get 3/0/4/0 in BH, to hunt jedi,or Novice Commando to use the Launcher Pistol instead of that 1 box in TK.
I am Master Pistoleer, Desperado, Rogue, Nov TK, Nov Commando.
I love it.

My skills are similar (Master Pistoleer/Desperado/Rogue/Novice Commando) and I did take Novice TK until I realized that about all it did was help me stop my bleeding with meditate. So I dropped that (but not before getting 125k more xp as backup in case I want to re-up) and took Slicing 1. I like being able to slice terminals for higher payouts - I can get up to 46k for a Mokk or Janta mission out of a city with Improved Job Market.

After being a tka master for awile, I relized that i needed some range, Rifleman. Then with the left over pts decided to climb pistler 4040 for the bonus.

and I can hang with just about anyone... having a 400 dam geo helps too

This is the exact template I'm finshing right now.
The TK 0001 gives you meditate at novice to handle bleeding. 0001 gives you +5 ranged defense and +15 melee defense which makes a whole lot more sense to me instead of taking novice commando for just the launcher pistol.To me, if you're going for PvP thelauncher pistolis useless becausejust about everyone is going to have blast resists. It's good for PvE against turrets and AT-STsa few other creatures but that about it. If there's some other benefit, please explain because I just don't see why commando is useful.
Of course, I could be wrong about all of this. I've been playing for 8 months andI still consider myselfa NooB. =P

Stopping shot with a launcher pistol will take down lairs faster than anything else a pistoleer can use.
The ranged defense and melee defense from TK 0/0/0/1aren't really that significant (You'd already have +47 Melee Defense from the other profs) and both can be nehanced with clothing (as can bleed resist). If you want to dismiss commando because there's little use for the attacks, the same can be said about TK - what use has a gunfighter for unarmed strikes that do less damage than the pistol?
Basically, in my own experience (and I tried it both ways), TKN was an investment of 6 skill points for the sole purpose of slowing my bleeding after a fight. It just wasn't worth it to me, your mileage may vary.
Personally, if I only had 3 more points, I'd drop both and take Novice Medic.

Unless you get meditation 4 that tree is useless.
Meditation 1 can only stop bleeds. I think meditation 2 is poison, meditation 3 is disease, and 4 is wounds.

I think the real discussion is what to pair with the Master Pistoleer - BH 0040 - Smuggler 0040 template. After you complete this much, what do you do with the remaining 41 points? If you go up any single one of the Brawler trees you're left with 12 points when you hit level 4. That means you can get Novice Something and one skill box leaving 1 point unallocated unless you go Novice Commando and TKNovice which uses all available points. Either way, you're not going to get much with those remaining 12 points. You're not going to be able to get up far enough in either Commando or TK to use any of their really cool attacks. So, basically it boils down to Launcher Pistol vs. added defense. I choose the defense right now because I'm broke!

Right. I said there was 12 points left. You have 41 points left after Master Pistoleer - BH 0040 - Smuggler 0040.
To me, it makes better sense for the TK if you're going to PvP. Everyone is going to have blast resistant armor so the launcher pistol doesn't offer any advantage there. Commando, to me at least, only makes sense if you're going to be taking down bases and what not.
Of course, in a week I'll be dropping TK for Commando.
