Bounty Hunter Archive
Thread: Is this ok?!
DUDE!!! your an embarrasement for all mbh's!!! Why did you become bountyhunter, just to sit on your lazy bum and spam jedi to pay you... Your mission is to hunt them not to chat with them...
Imagine this in roleplaying: Jabba gives you a nice target to KILL! he pays you to kill him, and you then talk to the jedi to give you maybe half the price he is worth? I dont think Jabba himself would be very happy with that...
BH's doing this should be on the terminals...
Its called roleplaying, and it is the role of a bounty hunter to be greedy ![]()
Somewhat dubious behavior to say the least. If it violates any rules I am not sure.
But another point that I realized is the fact that you give the impression that you are a group of 4 bountyhunters who all have his mission and that you will keep him safe if he just payes up. But you don't keep his mission. You throw it into the pot again and thus cannot guarantee him any safety at all. I agree that it is not EXACTLY what you are saying, but that I on first glance interpreted it as such. And if I understood it that way, chances are that others will understand it that way too. In this case I think you are behaving even more dubious. It's like selling a rifleman a "uber T-21" in a backpack for X credits and then when he opens it he finds a decomposed hand from a kashyyk cave. There is no SWG "law" that I am aware of, that prohibits this, but it is definately considerd bad form indeed.
What you are doing here is much the same, depending on how you enterprate your tell to the jedi. And as I said, at first *I* understood it as you would keep the mission safe untill the 6th, but then didn't do it. And if I understood it like that, then others will too.
Not to nitpick, but I serously doubt that BH's blackmailing jedi on the threat of losing XP is "playing the game as we should". I have no doubt that you both "can" and "do", but I doubt very much that this was the intention. Bannable offense? Dunno. Bad form? Definately.

I've had Jedi say I can be banned for grinding kashyyk in 'their' spot before now, whilst they stood in the LoS exploit. I've had Jedi say I can be banned because I killed them twice in two weeks. Jedi have threatened to report me for chasing them to a house, hiding, chasing them from the house to a city, tracking, chasing them.
If we took everyones word for it, BH would just be banned for playing the game as we should.

Shows what judging people you don't know does for you ehI don't do this, I don't have the patience to bash terms for that long anymore and if a guilded BH did this, their guild would be a laughing stock. All talk and no action would be the name they'd get.
Err...did I judge you? Nope. Said that you (bountyhunters) can and do blackmail. If you place yourself in that category of bountyhunters that do this, then yes, I did judge you. If you are not, I didn't. It was you who used the term "play like WE should" and I replied in the same manner. Maybe we should all start using the correct term "one can and does things" instead of the easily misunderstandable "you can and do things" that this is a prime example of.
So cool down and jump down from the barricades Okiv. I feel certain you have been accused of worse
.
Hope that clears it up.
how's this?
Look at it in the context of a business policy.
If you just exploited and ran into a house, and I said I'll go away if you pay your bounty + 40%, SOE isn't going to ban me for asking you to compensate for your exploit.
I assure you, petitioning that "I exploited and now the bounty hunter won't go away" is not the best way to go about things.
