There should be an option to train the droid to group in the radial menu. It might even already be trained. Target the droid and type "g" or "group" and see what happens. Don't use the "/".

And what is up with that smell?

Yeah, I have a DE character, I hear you. Pub 21 really killed a lot of my enthusiasm for it. I'm sure most other crafting profs have their own horror stories.

As for the question about the med droid being incapped, I have always assumed they do not work while incapped but I've never tested it...
