Ok. You will have to forgive me, as I am new to these boards. I took some time though and had a look around to see if my specific question could be answered. In a round about way, I think so, but I just wanted to post because I am not sure if the matter is clear. OK here goes:

Concerning the weapon of choice for our class, it seems that LVA wins hands down. The reasons are obvious -high DPS over the Vibrolance. My question is though, how do you take into account the delta on the "to hit" penalty from Vibrolance to LVA? If you were to take a look at mine, my vibrolance has a miss chance of -33 while my LVA has a miss chance is -54. If we were dealing in percentages here, I would have to say that the Vibrolance would be better based on total damage done over time. Obviously there is nothing that compares with the cracking hit of an LVA - when you actually do hit! So my concern is, with all the missing going on during combat is the LVA really a better weapon than the Vibrolance? What is king when considering a weapon: accuracy, speed, or damage?

Also, I would like to know which of my two LVAsis better and if you could, why in your opinion:

LVA#1 Damage: 100/359 Speed: 3.3 Wound:40.5% HAM: 87/70/34 Penalty -55/-55/-55 (sliced)

LVA#2 Damage: 123/443 Speed: 5.3 Wound:50.7% HAM: 102/85/47 Penalty -54/-56/-55 (sliced)

Grats on LVA certification. Yes, get all 3 weapons lance, VL, and LVA. They all have there uses and depending on the situation one will out perform the other. You need em all

Make sure to psend the time and money for the best you can find. You dont get much, so buy wisely.

While you may need them all, you will likely live longer without the LVA. Opinions vary, but at lower levels, the LVA is a killing machine, mostly you.

Hi all,

I've been toying around with the idea of becoming a pikeman. No holo or anything like that, it's just something I'm interested in.

Personally, I really like the whole idea of using polearms. I'm talking staffs here. Going up the pikeman line of brawler, I've used the wooden staff, metal staff, and the reinforced combat staff. It just seems cool to me. Almost like a two-handed saber in terms of the moves you might use.

All of the sudden, my next weapon cert is a lance and as I look up the tree, it seems vibro lance isit. So my question is ... canI really be a pikeman, taking it to master, and focus on staff based weapons (and still actually do decentdamage)? Or is the lance what the pikeman isreally all about?

I could have missed something, but it seems like you get a vibro lance cert at Novice Pikeman and that's that.

Any info would be appreciated.

I'm not a pikeman...well no more than what I needed for Master Brawler. I believe the vibro lance you get at novice pikeman tho is more like a staff than like the lance you get earlier on. Kinda similiar to the long vibro axe in looks and in the way it is used.

just give up. I wouldnt even try pikeman untill the devs fix it. If you like missing 75% of the time using a slow weapon with high ham cost go a head. I would not go pikeman but if i want any chance at unlocking my FS slot i hav to master the wothless skill. If i was you i would wait to see if the devs fix anything(maybe in 2 years)

Your weapons are as follows, assorted staffs...wood/metal/reinforced, lance and then Long Vibro Axe in box 4 of brawler. At novice you get the vibro lance. And thats all she wrote.

If you so wish you can carry around that reinforced staff but it will not do you too much good unless is a uber nightsister one. Best combo of weapons in Novice is the VL and LVA. LVA hits hard/misses often, the VL hits not as hard/misses not as often.

Best thing is to switch between the 2, using your VL for quick kills or to land a stun on the larger creatures. Once the stun is on em it's a lil easier to hit them so thats when you wanna pull out the LVA.

Bottom line, you will not be an effective Pikeman if you use your staff the whole time. You progress to the more powerful pikes and will need to use them in a manner which befits you and what your group is doing

Thanks for the info. I'm still searching for my next path. Pikeman may very wellbe it. Also considering fencer. For now, I'm just playing with the brawler lines and seeing what feels right.

Cheers,

I used a speed sliced gedereffi baton (gaffi stick) until footwork 4 and then switched to a damage sliced one. Only use the stun baton if they have very high kinetic resist.. works well, and fencer is now very very fun

Hi,

Vibroblade is a safer bet. Lower damage, but the speed will allow you to stick multiple status attacks. (Which is only thing that keep you alive(or afloat ... if you are buffed up)at novice.)
