Ok, I am going to say a couple here...
Carbs:
Proton
E11 Mark II
Rifles:
Adv Laser
Hvy Lightning
Trando Hunting Mark 1-B (the crafted one)

Im MRM and i use a HLR against Jedi in every case. Stats are 490-1144dam/ 2.5speed/ 40elemtental/ 85sac every hit even against a Mdef is over 500. For PvP against someone with En armor i use a LD-1 with about 990max dam/ 2.5speed/ dam type kinetic / slices : 8%dam / 2%speed / 3% criticalhitchance.
Cause of my Mods for Rifle a Scatter isnt as useful as a LD-1 when it comes against a En Armor wearing Oponent.

Is proton sliceable? My smuggler told me you cant slice quest items...

I have a similar (but not quite as good) cabine that I use as my primary weapon... 930 max damage Elite carb with sac of 76. I troll the vendors looking for better guns, but have yet to find one. They are quite rare. I havent found a proton that beats it. I also like the flexibility ofa carbine.
