Yes but your confusing a BH with a Mercinary. There is a difference.

In the Star Wars universe Bounty Hunters don't hunt Jedi, they hunt politicians and they hunt smugglers. In Star WarsGalaxies BH's hunt Jedi asa programmingchoice that has nothing to do with Star Wars and is no longer relevant anyway, as a deterrent to keep Jedi players from generating visibility and being tooobvious in the game. It was briefly entertained as a method to cap the Jedi population when permadeath was an option, but those days are long gone for good reasons that don't need to be rehashed here. If the devs introduce the hunting of smugglersin a balanced way that enhances the smuggler profession and addresses voluntary PvP then it will be a benefit to the game and it will make the game more Star Wars like.

I really don't think you understand how BH smuggler missions would drastically effect everyones gameplay. Your simply not thinking of all the drawbacks.

For one, everyone will find it super hard to get their weapons and armor sliced. As , I assume, doing this service for people will make the Smuggler available on the BH terms ??

at the moment it doesn't sound like spices and slicing results in a mission, they would be taking a special mission, failiure would result in being hunted by an NPC BH.

The system under discussion at the moment would allow for a Smuggler, on failing x amount of Smuggling missions, and thereby accruing 'DeadBeat points' [ie Visibility] having a Bounty placed on them by the smuggling client.

As it stands the bounty huntersare only npcs.

We the Smugglers, and you the BHs seem keen [at least hte majority do] for high DeadBeat points to result in player BH attack.

I would certainly welcome the move, as it adds content, and keeps the Smuggler profession on its toes.

My only concern is the PvP system itself, as I don't feel giving BH the first-strike and surprise abilities they have against Jedi is necessarily fair, seeing as Smugglers are lesser opponents than your Jedi friends.

But that aside, I say bring it on

Would ya hunt us if we asked real nicely?

Please? Pretty please?

What if we bribed you with beer?

Personally, I can't wait to be hunted. I just hope the Devs are smart enough to give us the option.

Nahhh I wouldn't. It wouldnt be fair at all. The only Smuggler that could compete with my template is one who already has BH. And I wouldn't hunt another BH.

Fair or not... would a real BH turn down an easy mission for money?

And you have to remember... the Smuggler profession isn't all we got. You won't be hunting level 54 noobs. You'd be surprised how many tricks we have up our sleeves.

You seem to be only considering the effect of BH/Smuggler missions have on the game in it's current configuration. Most certainly there are several drawbacks if nothing were done to address current gameplay structure. I think this would be very fun for both professions if gameplay were structured differently. Namely getting visibility from slicing, or running spice. Why is an increase in difficulty of gettingweapons and armorsliced a bad thing? From a diffierent perspective, couldn'tthe difficulty implied be considered content? This could be a very fun & viable alternative to Jedi hunting. I support it as long as a secure system is introduced and all reprecussions are considered....

Would be cool ?? To go arround hunting pretty much any player charachter for whatever reason ??

I don't want to do that, and I don't think thats fair at all.

The only, and I mean ONLY reason that were allowed to hunt Jedi is because they are the most powerfull player class in the game. I don't think well ever see the day where BH's can just go arround collecting bounties on all kinds of weaker player classes.

I think you missed the point...its not just PvP angainst anyone..like it was with the TEF system..this puts the BH against only people who are good at PvP and want to PvP.

Dont be fooled into thinking those other players are so weak, they didnt get their high PvP ranking by crafting shirts all day.

How would declaring open season on people for having a good PVP rating make the game " better for everyone " ??

Itsa horrible idea.

Again you miss the point..its TIED TO THE PVP RANKING SYSTEM. Only people who are good at PvP and PvP a LOT end up on the boards. Those people are far from the helpless people who now have 'open season' on them as you say.

The highest bounties get paid out for the best of the best PvP'ers, and the more you PvP in public (like starport dueling/ganking) the faster those folks rise in bounty payouts)

I hear what you guys are saying.. and you know what ? You could be right. The Devs could do it right and make it somehow fair and fun for everyone..

but I have my reservations..
