ROFL! Good stuff, mate!

I'm almost positve that FRS will be reinstated with pub 21. Let's have a look back on the last few months, shall we? FRS hits and jedi everywhere are engaging in "fightclubbing". You have to admit--it was a clever idea. The FRS looked good on paper: Light jedi kills so many Dark Jedi and earns a higher place among his peers, and vice-versa for Dark Jedi. The devs just never took into account that light and dark jedi would actually band together to "fix" the system and turn it into a popularity contest. FRS is disabled with the advent of CU. This is supposedly to make the respeccing period go more smoothly for everyone. All FRS Jedi, "guilty" of fightclubbing or not, pushed back to "0" value to start over again once a new FRS is figured out and implimented.

Back then, as well as it will be in the near future, a Jedi could also gain FRS points by killing a Master Bounty Hunter. Problem--Most MBH's worth their salt weren't stupid enough to try to tackle a fully-templated knight by himself. If a hunter wanted to go after a high-level mark (worth 200k or more), he or she would actually take the time to get a group together and stand at a terminal for an hour while the rest of the members of that group found the same mission. Then they'd figure out a strategy and kill the Jedi, thereby taking away FRS points rather than granting them. Jedi continued to "fightclub" while the Bounty Hunters continued to groan about how ridiculous it was.

Pre-CU, a hunter with 3XXX BH skills and Pikeman or TKM+some other helpful skillboxes could be the "ultimate jedi killer" while a Master Bounty Hunter stood little chance of killing any jedi with missions over a 150k payout. CU changed that dramatically. Well, for the melee hunters, anyway. Ranged hunters got a little boost while the melee template dabblers were smacked in the head with a steel nerfbat. Another very important change that I think gets very little mention--Jedi vulnerability went waaaaaaaaay down with the near-removal of buffs. It used to be that even a gimped ranged MBH could take out even the highest-paying Jedi if they were simply patient enough. All one had to do back then was to shed the "thug" mentality and do some actual investigation; learning about his mark, their habits, where they lived, when they played, where they landed their starship, where they got buffed, etc. Then, when the jedi heads to the doctor's line at the MO to get a buff, BLAMMO! States are applied, the mark is knocked onto his back, and a few eyeshots usually would finish them off. If that didn't work, there were always bombdroids. Now, after CU, no buffs=no windows of opportunity to wait for. Also, ranged hunters are now a little more capable than they were before and melee hunters are lucky if they can get a hit or two in before it's all over.

The next step was when they added a few things to help Jedi to defend themselves. Cloak, Force Aura, the entire Defender tree... now ranged hunters are about "on par" with jedi who have 150-200k credits on their heads. Again, the Bounty Hunters that have learned anything about their profession have also learned a very important one along with how to use droids, which skills to take to fill in their templates and which guns are the best for certain situations; they've also learned their limits. The devs aren't really happy with the idea of reinstating the FRS system the way it was because it'll just lead to the same problem and lots of people angry about the fightclubbing all over again. This time, the way I understand it, bounty hunters will be the primary, if not only source of FRS points for jedi. Jedi who are involved in the FRS are strong. They should be. How do you get bounty hunters to go after them so that jedi will have the chance to kill them? Tempt them with more credits? No. BH have learned by now that it makes a LOT more sense to go after two 150k missions that they know they have a good chance of completing than to go after one 225k mission that they'll likely not succeed in. So, what do you do? Make the payouts anonymous so that BH can't judge the level of difficulty of their mark before they head out. Of course, BHs havent' just been keeping track of faction allignments of jedi all this time--the ones who have been around for a while are going to recognize the names of the marks and won't need a higher mission payout to be able to determine that certain marks are simply out of their league when solo.

So now all the pieces are in place. We don't know who we're going after, and we don't know how difficult a particular mark will be before we accept the mission. Some of us have already found ourselves in pursuit of Jedi we never would have considered trying to attack. Some of us have taken a deep breath, double-checked our gear and headed in anyway, and some have even succeeded in bringing down those marks! Others have simply learned that they were after someone who used to be a "Templar" when the FRS system was still operational and promptly dropped the mission.

Forgive my cynicism here, but correct me if I'm wrong: Wasn't publish 20 heralded as "good news from Fan Fest" when the upcoming changes were first posted on this very forum? "We're about to get some serious love in publish 21" could very well mean that we're about to get another set of player bounties: Bounty Hunters that drop too many missions. I dunno about you guys, but it seems to me that this would really fit the devs' M.O. It would "force" BH's who have been dropping missions on Jedi they don't believe they can handle solo to keep the mission and go for it anyway so that those Jedi can begin earning their FRS points again, making us to be not much more than Jedi fodder, rather then Jedi hindrance, which I thought was supposed to be our role in this game. Also, with the terminals acting the way they are with all the offline jedi missions not updating as they should...

On an upnote, if there really is no doublespeek or misdirection involved and if the devs really do have something nice in store for us, I'd really love it if we were to get some post-MBH bounty hunter content where we could earn specific skills to make our jobs a little easier.

Defender tree has been here since publish 9 my friend. I was one of i think only 4 master defenders on our entire server before the CU.

This publish brings exciting new changes for our Bounty Hunters and some minor fixes. Many players have asked for an increase in the type of player bounties available. As a bounty hunter gains interrogation skills, the variety of NPC and player bounties will increase. Players who fail specific profession quests, tasks, or who are deemed suspicious by the Empire, may appear on bounty terminals.

Profession: Bounty Hunter

  • Additional player bounties based on interrogation skill: Entertainers (Interrogation I), Artisans (Interrogation II), Rangers (Interrogation III), Creature Handlers (Interrogration IV), Smugglers (Master).

  • Special BH armor now dropping from Nightsister Elders and other high-level NPC's.

  • New BH rifle: Czerka Rifle

Profession: Artisan

  • A critical fail on assembly or experimentation will now put the crafter at risk of appearing on bounty hunter terminals. This applies only to elite Artisan professions (Weaponsmith, Armorsmith, Architect, etc.).

Profession: Creature Handler

  • Failure to tame a creature may put the player at risk of appearing on bounty hunter terminals.

Profession: Entertainer

  • It is now possible an Imperial agent may deem your performance too risque causing the player to appear on bounty hunter terminals.

Profession: Ranger

  • Failure to trap a creature may put the player at risk of appearing on bounty hunter terminals.

Profession: Smuggler

  • New smuggler quests are available from your contacts at local cantinas. Failing a quest may result in the player appearing on bounty hunter terminals.

  • An exploit to the last ditch move has been removed. Players will no longer be able to use this ability when their health bar is less than 50%.

Profession: Jedi

  • The loss of XP due to being killed by a bounty hunter has been a concern among many players. Jedi will no longer appear on bounty hunter terminals.

Force Sensivity

  • The path to becoming a Jedi has been made easier. Previously a player had to receive a set number of badges to initiate the old man visit. Now a player wishing to become force sensitive can speak with the old man in Mos Eisley.

  • The Aurilian Village has been relocated from Dathmir to Corellia to ease the risk of lower level characters getting incapped by creature spawns.

meh, hope im not going over board here, but a bh form of 'cloak' would be nice... but with special limits, like a 60-120 second limit, and you automatically exit 'cloak' once you attack... sometimes its hard to blend in with the crowd if every jedi on the server knows you as a bh... it'd be nice if you could just *poof* for a couple seconds when your tracker droids alert you that they are headed right for you... meh, i'll quit dreaming lol

We'll get at least 2 things:

-Landmines. Hidden anti-jedi mines with 5k damage and auto-DB. Can only be planted at the Kashyyyk starport terminal.

-Heat-seeking proton missiles. Will hit the targeted vehicle and damage every attackable target in a 20m radius and inside the speeder for 10k.

Well as the last few publishes have been aimed at making Jedi easier to grind than Entertainer I would guess:

1) New Starting Profession - Novice Jedi

2) Arakyd Droids no longer give planet name target is on

3) Fix for Seeker Droids, they now return a random text string instead of Jedi name

4) Seeker droids no longer give a waypoint

5) BHs are perma banned from Kash

6) Fix for Krayt Loot bug - Gnorts and Kaadu now drop Premium Pearls if hit with glowbat

7) Sorry the candles dont work again

I wish Tanks could give us a hint. I wonder when 21 will hit TC's. Im about to quit this game. I liked it better when there werent jedi at all and it was all about the GCW but now its only Jedi/BH wars. Tanks can you give us any sort of hint or possibly a time frame when you think 21 may hit TC. Doesnt even have to be an official date just a guess. If 21 dosnt fix or add some good features then Im finding a new game or something else to occupy my time.

As I recall, Tanks said it had nothing to do with Jedi and everything to do with BH. He has also stated the smuggler bounties were not going to happen. How about another from of PC bounties? Say, failed bounty hunters? Of course, some of us wouldn't see this as 'lovin', but I would.

my guess is that in publish 21, bounty hunters will be removed from the game completely. those people that have bounty hunter characters will receive3 free tier 1 boxes in any starting profession of their choice and a hologram of a jedi giving the finger.

my fantasies for pub 21 include a mbh skill that allows you to stealth (similar effects to cover and cloak, but very slow walk speed)

We all get a jet pack that that is suppose to be a house decoration. However, due to a bug, it will work perfectly fine. Look for this bug to be fixed in publish 22, however, due to another bug, it will somehow be coded with the bounty hunter mission terminal menu. This will be followed by a big 'Aw, screw it." from the devs.
