Hasara,

May you find better adventures and may all your pets follow you. Good luck in whatever you do.

Why am I leaving?

Well I wasn't wanting to until the last twopublishes. I just mastered bio-engineer a few days ago with my second account, and was hoping that doing so would rejuvinate my enthusiasm towards SWG. For a little while it did. I gathered up some new piles of resources for trying to manufacture some tissues that I'd not done yet due to grinding out the final 2 boxes of Tissue Engineering to finish BE. Anyway...gathered up the resources, and made some tissues. Cool stuff. Then I went out DNA sampling, and didn't notice any difference in my success rates on some of the more difficult creatures, such as bark mite burrower queens, and arachne queens. In fact I noticed more failures than I had been getting prior to hitting master. That was my first step towards leaving.

The next was actually making some BE pets. I figured that with some very high and high quality DNA samples from some tough creatures I could make several pets that would be superior to my former bests. Wrong. In SWG bio-engineering is, contrary to even our modern infantile bio-engineering techniques, a very very unpredictable process. You'd think that with some samples where you can see nearly every property going into the DNA template, thatpredictingthe properties ofthe final product would be easy. Wrong. The devs have created a crafting process that is both neat for experimenting on countless combinations, but is so terribly undocumented and lacking in predictibility, that sometimes it feels like creating creatures is nothing but a waste of time. And when you toss in the massive exodus of creatures handlers from that profession, there's not much more for a BE to do than just make tissues and other chef& doctor ingredients. What fun is that? Making pets for myself was fun for a little bit, but that's not why I wanted to be a bio-engineer.

Third, I just got fed up with the bugs to both BE and CH. I lost count of the times I died because of pets auto-store during battle with some nasty creatures. Then there's the countless times I've had things warp 80+ meters away during sampling or combat. And the times I've had to spam rediculous amounts just to get a pet to follow me. Kimos, and other creatures"running away" because of the "ideal fighting distance" got really really annoying. And let's not forget mounts. I've seen stormpoopers that are smarter than my mounts. Seriously...pets are like big labomized oafs that don't even know to defend themselves unless told to (assuming they understand the attack command!).

One other thing that slowly got to be annoying was the general lack of content. My personal feeling on holos is that they are bad for the game. No offense to those of you who are hologrinding. More power to you if you unlock that FSCS, I'm sure playing a sith or jedi will be very fun. But the idea of mindlessly mastering class after class without taking the time to enjoy and experience those classes seems like such a massive waste of potential for this game. That said, I chose not to do any holos. I picked 2 classes I thought I'd enjoy, and mastered them: TKA, and CH. After that I made my BE, and planned on mastering tailoring as well. But once I hit master TKA and CH, it became blatantly clear that there is not much to do other than make money and hunt for rare pets. Some people might do imperial or rebel stuff, but even after all of that, what's left? PVP? Sorry, that's not my cup of tea. Coming from a long time inEverquest, this game is a vacuum when it comes to content, so maybe my expectations were just too high.

Oh, something else that I cannot neglect mentioning. (Sorry I'm sort of typing as things come to mind...not a well thought out post.) I can't say how frustrating it has been getting more critical failures during BE combines as a master or near master than I did while playing BE in the lower levels. I did 95% of my crafting in front of a top notch food/chem station, and with top quality crafting devices. There's no consistancy! I even noticed this while I was working on tailoring.

I think the straw that broke the camel's back is just the utter lack of communication from official SOE people to certain parts of the SWG community, such as the Creature Handlers on this forum. The BEs are in the same boat. How pathetic is that that we have to wait so long for the chance to ask the devs ONE FRIGGEN QUESTION!And then the thread in which said question was discussed gets deleted? Those are symptoms of the worst customer service I've seen in a very long time. Thankfully Vert was on his toes and came up with a great couple paragraphs to throw at the devs.

So there ya have it. I don't knowhow Pluto (or anyone else) can disagree with me, since this is my personal experience and opinion.

Sorry for getting a little bit long-winded, so to speak.

I hope, for the sake of those of you who continue playing, that things improve soon!

Be safe!

I don't speak for pluto but I know that he won't diagree with you.

SOE has the worst customer service I have seen.
their typical answer is it's not a problem with us but in the way you do things. Their Dicussion forums can barely be called that cause there is little to no communication to from their end.

It reminds me of a old poster
Getting answers around here is like mateing elephants.

#1 it takes a lot of time and effort

#2 there is a lot of postureing grunting and groaning

#3 it takes 16 months to see any results.

This game almost 1 year after it went gold is still not ready for gold by any means. This is the longest open beta I have ever seen. They should be tweaking things, not have to scrap things and start over.

Hold on now, you chose a couple really borked profs. Before ya dump yer accounts ya might consider doing the flavor of the month combat profs. I hate saying that but a lot of ppl have fun at those. The content in this game is in the combat. They are adding stuff for the powergamers only it seems. I'm going master rifle for this exact reason. I know yer frustrated as heck right now but instead of dumpin the whole game ya might just try uber combat. Besides the Space Expansion is (supposed) to be on its way and I'm sure you don't want to miss out on that. Gluck

Hasara,

I never said I disagreed. The more people do quit the more maybe they will pay attention. It is more upsetting that there must not be an exit poll as to why people are quitting you have to be the 5TH CH in a month to actually say they are concelling their account.

Maybe you could enlighten me as to what I would disagree with? I myself am not buying JTLS until CH is worth something again. That is fact. 4 accounts worth of not buying starts to add up if more and more CH do it. A recent poll I conducted in this very forum suggested that 50% would buy the next expansion to pilot ships. Although I think I would like that for one of my four toons I will boycott. Money does speak louder than words. The unfortunate thing is that most people are likely guilded and will buy under duress to comply with guild policies. So many raids, etc, etc. I am still basically the loner CH I came into the game as and can afford to withdraw myself from the new additional planets, zones and professions.

I do plan on staying for a while. And I sincerely wish you luck as I have every CH that has bothered to say they are quitting. I almost quit in December. There was nothing left for me. I met someone that rekindled my heart. She is gone. I still stay. The Dant sunsets will always be a reminder of her. Pure and simple CH is dead. I no longer play for myself but a glorious spirit of life. Some day she will no longer haunt me (a good haunting mind you) and I will be able to move on. If you come acrossed any Pluto Ninemoons in your travels it is likely me with a much shorter name lol.

Sorry Pluto, my remark about you wasn't meant to be negative in anyway. It was simply a response to a comment in Jonaku's first reply. My apologies if I upset ya at all.

And as far as me playing the flavor of the month combat profession, I mastered TKA prior to mastering CH. I think that counts. Yes it's fun being able to tear stuff up easily. But that gets boring really fast in this game.

Oh, and I neglected to mention that this cancellation of 2 accounts is the tip of the iceberg. There will be a great deal less Sony product purchased in the futurewhere I work. You put it very nicely Pluto: money always speaks louder than words, and SOE has shown that time and time again with their policy towards customers in their MMORPGs.

Hasara,
In the case of SOE I do not think money talks. They have EQ and EQ2 coming out that is their gravey train. I do not think people cancelling accounts effect them in anyway. SOE has given up on creature handlers and has no intent to fix it. I think all of use who follow forums and have been MCH for months know this to be true. It is a shame SOE could not at least post some kind of response to creature handlers concerns even if we do not like what they say. SOE wants you to be a combat profession and play their way. That is their bottom line. I loved the idea that you control your destiny here. An idea they promoted when they started releasing info on the game. What they missed is that more creature handlers would be part of the GCW if they would make us competative instead of making us extinct like our pets. Leave the game for a new experience or if you are just bored. However leaving as a protest is just an action taken in vain. Us who stay will see no benefit from it. It will have zero impact on SOE if enough people leave they will just close down servers. They have already made their profits on SWG.

I just love my little buddies too much to quit MCH. (Yeah, I even use my Kimogila to hunt) Won't quit, not going to happen, I may have to be neutral now, I may have to hunt solo, I may have to hunt stuff on Coronet instead of big game, but I will never abandon my pets.
