Thread: what is your modified dps MBH's only
By the way those are some nice weapons. I usually run around 522 on my scatter pistol, lower on my other weapons.
Notwithstanding, DPS is nice for bragging rights, and certainly an eye catcher. However it's not the end all, be all.
DPS is very misleading, and speed faster than 1.00 is a waste. Since the fastest you can shoot is 1.00.
DPS is a raw calculation Speed x (Min+Max)/2= DPS. So it only takes into account ranged shot.
The thing to focus is on Minimum Damage, SAC and Speed. As long as your modified speed is between 1.00 and 1.3 you're good to go, the 1/3rd second of a difference is going to be minute anyways.
For PVP you need to to focus on Minimum Damage and Accuracy.
A SAC PUP or a Speed PUPis horrid for a weapon. Sure it lowers yourSAC but your accuracy goes down the tubes. Better to PUP your weapon for Accuracy. Your modified DPS does go down, but guess what, you'll hit more often. I ofen use a +60 SAC Pup and I fire a 1/10th of a second slower. With a 20 Accuracy bonus weapon, you have a total of +80 Accuracy, throw in Crispics and you're firing at +120 Accuracy for extended periods of time.
No matter how fast your gun is, if you miss, it doesn't do any damage.
Secondly Minimum Damage rules the day as w/ a Jedi running force aura +500 to defense and with 200+ innate. You have to be able to beat the 700 minimum to hit a jedi and then do damage. Most MBH accuracy run from 200-300 and with pyro +200, a Pre-Nerf Scoped weapon +60 and an Accuracy PUP +60 will only get you 620 at best. Already your chance to hit is already low, and the lower your accuracy the more towards Minimum Damage your weapon will hit. Now a jedi not having force aura (gasp) will be a lot easier to hit, and with your bonus accuracy should be able to do more damage. Provided that your shot doesn't get blocked and they're not eating vayerbrock.
Notwithstanding, DPS is an eyecatcher and sells weapons.
Personally I focus on SAC, then Accuracy, then Minimum Damage.
Totally depends on your playstyle. You don't have to spam specials with a speed pup to be effective. Try hotkeying some of those old marksmen skills.
Mine is 823 or so with my elite carbine.
My template: MCH/MBH. No carbineer skills. I have a modded +26 carb speed armor though.

QFE. The SAC PuP onlyreduces Acc by -9 (perfect PuP, which are common), and gives you such a low SAC that you probably won't need to worry about action. Without a SAC PuP, you do get to keep your normal acc... but you'llbe out of action in an extended fight.

Just a real quick aside on this thread.....
DPS is just a bit misleading. A BIG BIG factor in damage done is your Accuracy bonus, and that modified DPS on your weapons doesn't take any accuracy bonus (or penalty!) into account. It also doesn't take into account of the fact that a large portion of people use energy weapons these days, and as a result, a large portion of people are outfitted against energy as well. A very good kinetic ranged weapon does much more damage than its stated DPS against 75% of the combat population these days as a result....
Just something to chew on....

Is everything Iceovekan said about DPS true? If so... good work in figuring it all out, gives me something to consider. And thanks for posting it.
Pretty much yes. He's very safe to say that the posted modified DPS on a weapon is just for bragging rights. Modified DPS doesn't take into account Accuracy. It doesn't take into account any specials you are using or their timers (it just assumes you are using Ranged attack). It doesn't take into account any defenses on your opponent. If you are using an energy based weapon on someone with a PSG and energy armor, you won't even come close to your posted DPS, whereas someone firing a kinetic based weapon at the same opponent might do more damage than yourself even though his modified DPS says its lower than yours!
When you get right down to the nitty-gritty of a battle, there are many other factors to take into account that will throw your stated DPS to the four winds.
Its okay to look at it when making a purchase of a weapon, but in battle, you better be thinking of the big picture.

FYI, check the Weaponsmith forums; Accuracy bonus on weapons isn't working. Just don't want anyone to base a weapon purchase on Accuracy and be disappointed that they don't see a difference.
Two things to consider with that post....
First, your own accuracy bonus is working. This is (at least I would expect it for all the bounty hunters reading this) MUCH larger than the few points you are going to get on any weapon.
Second, the accuracy bonus (or penalty) is very small or nothing at all on most weapons. Getting a fix on whether it is working on weapons could be hard to tell, but I'm trusting the smiths on it. Haven't bothered with the weapon bonuses myself.
