He must have seen the poutine reference in your sig and made the assumption. But as any true Canadian knows, poutine is no longer reserved for those that speak French, or whatever bastardized version of the language people from Quebec are calling French these days.
And shouldn't the Newfie be drinking screech, or does that not go well with codfish?

That was uncalled for. He made fun of Quebec, but never said where he was from.
I am a 'Newfie Boy'... and answering his ignorance with something just as bad was not good, espessially when you offend folks other than the poster.
What even makes you think he's from NL? That wasn't cool man.

With all respect to you, Diar, I know many people from Newfoundland who call themselves (and the province, for that matter) "Newfie". I've found all Newfoundlanders that I've met to be top-quality people, and I never use the word as an insult or with derogatory overtones.
