I drop MBH today.
The days of ranged are over. Welcome to stickfighter wars galaxies. TKM here I come.
That is all.
Yeah, well I think the BH tree was done wrong to begin with. LLC should never have been its own tree. LLC should be replaced with a BH melee tree (a good one) cause it just stands to reason that even in the "real starwars world" a BH may have to resort to melee combat under certain conditions. Still, it looks like80% of PvP combat is melee right now, and 95% of combat vs. jedi is melee. Am I sad that I'm now grinding TKM and dropping BH skills as I need thepoints? Yes I am, but TK isa lot of fun to play. I really don't see a BHbeating the crap out his opponent with his fistsas being a scenario that conflicts with BH roleplay. It still works imo.
Now, here's another thing to consider *prepares for flames*. Put aside the Starwars continuity of the game, since that was never gong to stick anyway. Look at SWG as just another MMORPG and compare the clases and professions to other games in the genre. Ranged proffesions in SWG are what your magic casters are in other RPGs. Melee in SWG are like melee (warriors) in other games. So ranged/caster has high dmg/low defence (in otherwords, stay back from the battle and fire at ppl who aren't targeting you) and melee/tanks have med dmg/high defence (tank, tank, tank). BH falls into the ranged/caster class and was never meant to be a melee class. So in the model BH plays exactly like it should. You'll get owned by anyone who is melee and you'll be viable against other ranged professions. I don't think its realistic to think that a BH should be able to take on a TKM just by way of the game mechanics. So should the devs change and make ranged the stronger class with high dmg/high defense? Where does that put melee? It makes melee low dmg/med def, and suddenly melee is unplayable. It just doesn't work. You have to have your Caster classes and your Tank classes for the game to have any kind of diversity. What I read a lot of BH asking for is to become a tank class (like Jedi) and I say we've already been given the solution: hybrid (or dabble as some like to say). Throw some melee skills on your character if you want. MBH is still playable if you add pistoleer skills, or carbine skills. I've seen it done. But don't treat the game like you expect to grind out one profession (in under a month) and assume that all professions are created equal and you will suddenly be uber. The skill in this game comes from crafting the correct combination of professions to make your character the best for your playing style. Anyone can sit in the squill cave and spam special attacks until they get master. Anyone can duel and stand there and spam specials. The way you build your character is what makes you good or gimp. Getting master proves nothing.
Instead we all argue with each other, pointing out what we "think" they are trying to accomplish. Go to most profession forums and you see the same things, the same or similar issues. I appreciate all the work Tanks does, but do they listen to you? I dont wanna grief, own, be better than any other profession, I just wanna be able to enjoy the game. But do you Devs listen....or is all this pointless?
And let me be clear, this goes for every profession, the Devs have made it appears as if they dont care, if they disagree with this they need to make a point of changing this, but as I said....this all seems pointless...after 2 years.....its pointless.

You have to realize that the majority of the posting and talking that the community leaders do is done on the forums that we cannot see or have access to. As is the same with the Devs. Then again, they could just be talking about Transformers and other things that Dev types talk about.(Oh, that really was just a joke...I'm a developer as well.)
oh I agree, I think Tanks and I am sure the other profession leaders do their very best, but it doesn't appear they care, or believe what they bring to them, I mean the name rule changes alone, wouldn't the Devs atleast make some sort of statement, instead, without saying a word, its like....this is our change, if you dont like it...tough. Just dissapointing....

I feel mixed on this, I'm confident the Devs have no plans to use 99% of anything we suggest but someday, someday they will, it would be nice to be ready.![]()
Faith is a wonderful thing
I also think the dev's dont realize that by never posting anything on any of the thousands of great ideas i see posted on all the different forums here, they come across with a holier-than-though attitude that seems to alienate alot of paying customers, and for good reason. Theyre too good to comment on the good ideas that are seemingly a waste of forum space, then push out some crap thats still in beta with no hint of their intentions.
Damn i wish i hadnt seen this thread, im gettin all pissed just thinking about it.
