another alternative is Mbh Mpistols SL0404 or sl 0440
u loose out on healing but still have ruby and stims and u get insane def increases
i can tank a cl 82 kryat or kimo not using root at all
+ if ur a group leader u get additional bounses to defs and the addition of rally which adds 80 def 40 to melee and ranged acc

I did the same thing for the same reason, stayed with it for a week, realized I had made a mistake and re-grinded back to mcm.

Im master pistols and I find it nice as you have root to keep them at distance, then disarming shot for when they root you and close distance, oh and intimidate which reduces the amount of damage they can do to you... oh theres that warning shot too thatreduces their defense by 80.....not to mention combined with BH you have 6 high damage chainable shots.
Want me to go on? Get yourself a really nice pistol aka Featherweight FWG5 with decent accuracy mods and SAC/Damage capped with a 100% speed slice...
And well.... you'll have fun oh 8.1k energy armour break sliced armour too.
