Annoying as it is, you can't expect everyone to know everthing about your profession. Do you know exactly what is required for a dancer buff? Do you know how many resources go into making a doctor buff? Do you know is is required to make vasarian brandy? I doubt you've read the FAQ of every profession you've ever intereacted with.
*prepares to be flamed*
I CERTAINLY don't know all that info about other classes, and i don't have the time or inclination to read all those FAQ's. However, when i go to another class for services, I certainly ask them IN A POLITE MANNER how their particular service/trade good works (be it buffs, foods, harvesters) etc., as well as asking them what service they have that would best fit my needs. After doing this with just a few people, i can then understand what all is involved, and thus the next time i'm in need ofthat service I am an informed customer.
Certainly this takes more time on the part of the person who has to be the educator, but the result is a loyal customer. I think one of the points of the original poster (and correct me if i'm wrong) is that people tend to NOT read up on things, then go to him and other service providers making outrageous demands in a rude manner, and then get irate when they can't get what they want. Being uninformed is not necessarily a crime ... being uninformed and obnoxious about it should be.

Let's see. I'm an Entertainer/Medic/Scout/Smuggler/TKA. I'm formerly a Chef, Doctor, Combat Medic, Weaponsmith, Armorsmith, Tailor, Creature Handler, and 4/4/4/4 Artisan.
(No, I'm not holo-grinding. I'm having tough time deciding which non-working profession I like most)
And before all that, before reading all those FAQ's and helpful tip files, when I was an uninformed newb and asked for a speed slice not knowing it was random, I wasn't a dickweed to the Smuggler who told me it was random, and then proceeded to get a lousy damage slice on my VKs. I paid him promptly, and without colapsing the window ten times. I even thanked him for doing it for me.
I've got no problem with people who aren't aware. I can't stand people who are obnoxious about it though.
To the original poster and his sympathizers:
If this stuff bothers you, then maybe you're just NOT a People Person! I slice almost every night and very rarely run across anyone who is rude. In fact, I think in the three months since I made master, I have really only met one really rude person. And I just don't let them get to me.
Now here you are complaining about the people who don't yet know it is random, but do you stop and take time to inform them? If so... great - that is the right thing to do. If not, how do you expect them to learn? I have met FOUR people in the last week who were in their first or second day... one who was in his first fiveminutes in the game. He wasnt asking for a slice, but the point is there are new and inexperienced people joining this game all the time. Expecting everyone to know how slicing works is ridiculous!
Also,in the three months since master, I have had at least FIVE people (that i know of for sure) come to me with for their FIRST slice. I calmly take time to explain to them the ins and outs of slicing and make sure they know that it applies to ALL slicers. SO you can thank people like me for making it easier for those of you who don't take time to help others.
