Thread: A TIMELINE CORRECT, JEDI-FREE SERVER OPTION?

i say not no jedi but less jedi
Perma-death would settle that really quickly. I agree. Still leave in the possibility, but if you die a certain number of times, you die for good. That'll keep you from showing off at the starport...
You enter a lottery to become a Jedi. A system randomly chooses maybe 5 accounts a month and gives them a second slot. the random system would do this until there is 40 to 50 Jedi on the server. Once this happens, perma-death would be implamented. Lets say, for example, permadeath works like this:
You die 5 times in a week, your second slot character loses his/her jedi abilities. Everything they have invested in Jedi will be lost. Your character will be able to keep their sabers and stuff, just not use them or make anymore. Once one person loses their status as Jedi, the "lottery" system picks another person to make as a Jedi. If a Jedi dies four times in a week, (assuming week is Sunday to Saturday), the following Sunday the system will wipe their slate clean to zero deaths.
So the system keeps rotating itself. When a Jedi gets permadeath, they become a second normal character, free to be used as a crafter, a healer, or whatever... so in it's own right, even losing the Jedi still has it's benefits.
After a Jedi dies, someone else is selected and given a second slot. They are free to work Jedi as they please.
When a person is selected, they have a week to either confirm or deny getting a Jedi. If they don't accept or deny in a week, the system picks someone else for Jedi and that person lost their chance that time.
If a person gets a Jedi and works them a little, but then lets them sit and has no progress what so ever in a few weeks or a month, they will lose their status as Jedi and become a regular character.
If a person who had a Jedi before and lost it gets reselected to have a Jedi, they will get a "respec" screen, where they can regain all the skills they had before they died the other time, at the expense of losing whatever skills they have at the time. When the person loses their Jedi status again, they will be able to "respec" back to what they had before they regained their Jedi skills.
As for grinding Jedi, they could make it slightly easier... as in lower the overall XP need by about 10 or 15 million (since I think it takes over like 30 million). Get rid of XP loss all together, since the penalty of dying will be the price of being one step closer to losing your Jedi.
In this system, everyone would have a chance to become a Jedi. Crafters and combat professions alike. No fighting needed. You just need to apply.
I miss the days when you'd hear rumors of an NPC Jedi in the hills of Corellia, far away from any civilization. I miss the days when Jedi were "mysterious" and you would be in awe when you saw a player Jedi... right before you blew them appart for the saber TEF...
Man, We need to find a way to get this to either Tanks or the Devs.

Sounds like some real good ideas flowing into this thread..maybe Tanks will leave the jedi forums long enough to glance at it? Or even hand it off to the devs! Cmon, give us a timeline correct server!
Hilarious. I have to say that most of the people on Corbantis are either Jedi or grinding towards Jedi. Personally, I love BH. When the game first launched I went straight for BH and was one of the first MBHs on my server. I started the Jedi grind out of sheer frustration. Jedi missions were a joke then. Droids always sent you to 0,0 and if you did find your Jedi they would just block 9/10 of your shots and then kill you and laugh.
I would also like a timeline correct server. That way I could get TIEs, Stormy Armour, Imp Weapons... all for free. Just like they did during this time period. Because during this time period Imps didn't pay for their own stuff right? That would be awesome. I can't wait to hop on this new timeline correct server and gun down a bunch of Rebel scum from way up high in my shiny new AT-AT. Now I'd pay extra for that as well!
Anzel: Sure you would get all your stuff....after Imperial Army Basic Training, which would be a pretty long serie of missions and unlocking certain skills.
And you would be a grunt in a squad led by a stricktStaff Sergeant that pushes you around during the training. If you made it you should have earned the armor and weapons. But you wouldnt ever be allowed to leave the compuond for your own missions and to join your friends when you wanted to.
Or...we could have it the way faction missionsare today...I'd like it as it is today.

No, I'd rather have all free stuff. I've been playing for over two years so I would be expempt from Basic Training. I'm already a Colonel and Colonel's don't go to Basic. I wouldn't object however if newer players had to...
Even colonels stay at thier compounds and dont not go anywhere except forwhen the General orders his men. And they got alot of paperwork and daily missions to execute.
I'd still like it as it is today. ![]()

So the only part that you want 'timeline correct' is the part with Jedi? You don't see any other discrepencies?
Jedi is the most unbalancing part of all the not-in timline issues, since theyr the strongest combat profession.
All other stuff like the BARC speeder, armor graphics, certain weapons, number of faction members etc, etc does not imply on the game at the same way as overpopulation of the strongest combat profession.
Any gravitation in regular professions does not unbalace the game since all regular combat professions are balanced towards eachother since the CU.
(Then I can add I think it's sad the only temp for killing full temp jedis is MBH/Mrifle/CM, it sure puts BHs in a tiny box with the anonymous jedi missions today)
