Even though I would have too leave most of my friends behind I would join a Jedi-free sever without a secound thought.
Why cant we have a jedi fee sever it not as if SOE will lose money, infact they would make it as lots of people would not be canceling there acounts like I probably will be doing at the end ofthe month. And lots of new people will probably come back.
So why SOE will you dont grant us a jedi free sever or even give as a explanation why not when you lose no money, just please the customers????
Well I guess this subject is TABOO at the GCW forum, to bad because it is popular there as well but I think someone over there is a jedi groupie! Guess its on us to keep it alive and going here, maybe try a few other forums to see how it fairs there.
FOR A JEDI FREE SERVER!!!!!
Ever since the servers started to get majorly unpopulated, mainly because WoW and being ignored by SOE caused a lot of people to leave in numbers. I'd estimate that each server is roughly at about 50% to 75% the population it was before WoW came out, or before Jedi were first unlocked.
What I think they should do is condense servers... I know there is no real way to do that without pïssing off a huge number of players, but I think it must be done. Maybe allow players to keep their money, their items, have their houses packed (with all items in them stored in the houses), but maybe not the recourses, since they differ from server to server... don't want crafters to have an unfair advantage. People who own city would be compensated with their structures and credits. Anything to try and keep the people as happy as possible.
Since there are 24 servers, (not including Europian servers), they could cut that to about 12 to 16 servers. These would be the severs where people can continue the game as usual. More focus on Jedi, like it is now. The left-over 8 to 12 servers would be turned into "No Jedi" servers. I use the word No Jedi roughly, because I think there should at least be a few Jedi... say maybe 15 to 30 within the first eight or so months. Now on these servers, the way to become a Jedi would not be by doing missions at the Village. The Village would be wiped off of Dathamir all together on these servers. Instead, to become a Jedi, you'd need to enter yourself into a random lottery. Each month, through random selection, 5 or so characters would be selected to become Jedi. You'd need to enter yourself into this lottery to have the possibility of unlocking to keep non-active players out of the pool.
This would keep Jedi at a low population for a long period of time, where "natural selection" will keep Jedi rare (i.e. people quitting, people getting hunting, ect.). Maybe make the grind a little easier, since the pool of Jedi names is smaller, the active Jedi would be hunted more often... maybe decrease/take out XP loss or make the XP needed decreased slightly.
If this was done, the servers with the "Easy Route-Jedi Unlock" system would be based on Jedi vs. Bounty Hunter portion of the game. On the "Jedi-less" servers, a new devotion will be rekindled for the GCW. There will still be Jedi vs. BH, but since there aren't some 400 Jedi on one server to "ruin" the battles, it would encourage regular players to once again gear up and battle, just like in the good ol' days.
This would be a way to keep the majority of players happy. You don't want your GCW battles to be littered with lightsaber wielding uber-soldiers? Go the "Non-Jedi" servers. You want to keep your Jedi, or engage armies of Jedi on a regular basis, then stay on the Jedi servers.
The initial consolidation wouldn't make a lot of people happy, but I think in the long run it would be a smart move on SOE's part. It'll give them a chance to incorperate Jedi the way they wanted it, and it'll allow the SOE head hanchos to use Jedi as the driving point of the game.

I left the BHing scene cause of the jedi whimpering out into houses/guilds hiding on kashyyk and the over-amped defenders.
I do not mind kashyyk or the hiders in houses. But defenders tick me off.
Sorry I diverse from topic.
I think we should have this server, but not have it cost money, cause it would cost us money for a game were already playing for. I myself will not be playing for much longer if we don't get something like this soon, like alot of others will do.
We want GCW back! But the battelfield everywhere! I still think their should be jedi, but make it 3 times as hard to get too, and can still be hunted by BH's and alow PERMA-DEATH. This will keep them rare, and keep the swg feel. I want jedi, but not like 500 a server like on chilastra wherever I go, oh another jedi. Friggin LAME. I also want them selected jedi, not just oh do these badges and your force sensitve. Is that how anakin got force sensitive NO! Is that how any jedi got force sensitve NO. It has to be within them. But when they do hit master if they actually do, they have to be really good. Like 3-4 Bh's too kill one. And if they flafh their saber or walk aorund in a robe looking like a jedi, BH's should be able to attack them on sight. They shouldn't be showing off what they got.
THIS SHOULD GO FOR ALL SERVERS THEIR ARE TOO MANY JEDI AND IT'S RUINING THE SWG EXPERIENCE AND FEEL IT'S JUST NOT THE SAME.
ON OTHER SERVERS 4-5 JEDI MAX. RE-VAMP IT FOR REAL.THEY WANT TO WHINE ABOUT IT? TELL THEM TO DEAL WITH IT SUCK IT UP. MOST OF THEM ARE GROWN MEN ANYWAYS.
I just honestly do not understand SOE. Thet went through great pains with the introduction of the Combat Upgrade in an effort to Balance combat professions, so that there would NOT be an obviously overpowered combat class...
Then they go and let Jedi flood the GCW and universe at large? I dont get that. What was the point in the CU, if all they were going to do was introduce a new Alpha class to dominate the GCW with?
i dont think perma-death is a good option for SOE. since the servers are currently 70% jedi already. I cant imagine they would keep playing with permadeath and there goes SOE's money when they decide to quit.
I say....
1) Remove the cloak option. They have enough places to hide already and cloak is constantly being exploited.
2) Increase XP loss 4X
3) Increase The income potential of Jedi over Knight status and place names of guardiens and masters on the terms.
4) bring back the random Holocron( reduced to 1 every 1 mill critter or npc killed on the server)drop to unlock the village quests. Then its not just a matter of grinding your way to Jedi.
then you will see a DRAMATIC decrese in Jedi activity without really hurting anyone. No-visabilty for jedi in groups was a good move. I have some Jedi friends and was bummedI couldnt help them out once and a while.
before you guys start crying about XP loss, keep in mind that not everyone was ment to be Jedi. In the begining, SOE said that it would take soooo long and be soooo tedious that many wouldnt even want to be one. I guess they were wrong...big suprise.
