No, it uses heavy weapon mods, but with the CU and the introduction of the CL system, it's only used for grinding until you get a better weapon.

Or it is good for causing major lag and pandimonium in battles.

lol Thanks for your responses.
Yes my once Uber LP is now as useful as a CDEF pistol. And boy o boy does the damage suck. Am I supposed to use this to level up? I can only just kill CL4 stuff with it?!

I was painfully killing level 54-60 stuff with it, but yeah its not meant for longevity. If you need to level up (and you are already a master something else) either find a corellian destroyer or the void (this will require a stockpiling of a lot of combat xp to get explosives 3). I just looted a void with about 670 max damage, quite a bit better than the launcher pistol.

Launcher pistols become a crowd control specialist's bread and butter weapon if they have any clue at all. They are fast, have small SAC costs, decent range, allow a small group of specific targets to be struck with whatever state you need at the moment, and most importantly, they produce no DOT to break mezz states. This is a Smuggler's best friend, but can be just as effective in the hands of a Carbineer or Pistoleer. Once you get past novice Commando, this is your "utility". Just as with the Rocket Launcher, it remains useful, but it's not for killing things, it's another tool in the toolchest to help you out of tight spots.
